I feel like I failed myself, I am so mad at myself:(

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Today I had an interview with tow LPN instructors and another important person from my school. I heard that there is a big wait for LPN course. And I feel like a failed my self. At the interview they asked me questions and I gave them answers. I was very nervous and was tongue tyed and stuttered and was even lost for words. I am normally not like that I am usually outgoing with a bubbly personality. But I was totally oposite at this interview. I was a real basket case. I am so mad at my self. My grades are B average which range from a 80-71% and here we need a 65% overall average. I am a 36 year old. And fear that because alot of the LPN nurses were about 10-16 years younger then I, that they would be chosen about me:(

and because of my terrible interview. Do I have a chance here? Is there any other field that would relate to LPN? Will the instructors over look my nervousness?? I don't know what to expect. Did any of you have the same problem or similar problems, to what I have experienced today? Your opinion would be greatly appreciated:)

I know that I have the same problem. People tell me to relax but that is easier said than done. You can't change anything now. I would definitely just consider it a done deal. I would absolutely bet you weren't the only nervous candidate. Good luck.

I was 36 & the same way at the interview. I was sure I wouldn't be accepted into the program. I wasn't a CNA, I wasn't CPR certified, all the things they asked, I didn't have them. I left so upset. But I got in! They said that age was on my side ;) They wanted mature individuals that would be most likely to complete the program! Hang in there. It's *normal* to be nervous at such an important interview!

Hey Tiffany311

Don’t be so hard on yourself; we were all scared and nervous when we went for our interviews to get into nursing school. I’ve been an RN for 25 years and I still remember my interview like it was yesterday!!! The mention of the director’s name still makes me nervous, it’s normal and who knows that more than anyone else, is nurses and nursing instructors most of all. I’m with traumaRUs; you couldn’t have been the only one who was nervous. One of the recommendations of career coaches or people who give talks on job hunting is to always follow up an interview with a thank you note. What you may want to do is to send a thank you note but add that you are sorry that you were so nervous and tongue tied but that you enjoyed meeting with them and thank them for the opportunity to be considered for admission into their program. It is a simple way to say that you were aware that you had been nervous but it is also a sign of being very professional. As far as the age thing, I am starting a LPN program that I wrote and just get approved by the state nursing board, and I am looking at age as a positive factor not a negative one. People who are older are usually more committed and more likely to see things through. I know that as far as I go, the older I get the more effort I put into the things I take on, I am just more focused and more settled. Good Luck getting in and I hope this helps. But really do NOT be so hard on yourself.

Thank you all for your wonderful support I really do appreciate it:)

God bless!

Even if you did not get in and have to interview for admission in the future, remember that age really is on your side. Every interview I attended to get into nrsg school addressed the fact in some manner that they show preference for mature students. I would do as spydercadet suggests and send a thank you note. And by the way, I have a few years on you and it almost takes a nuclear explosion just to get me to physically go to job interviews b/c the process is so unpleasant for me. So just keep on trying!

I must update all you wonderful people on here,

I have been accepted:):) Yah!
