Hi All!
I am a nurse with 1 year med/surg - tele experience. I finally got an interview at a great hospital near me in their post-interventional care unit! I jotted down the date and interview time and gleefully told my friends and family that I have an interview on September 20th! The only problem is that the interview was actually on September 3rd, which I didn't discover until the next day. How I screwed that up, I don't know. I left an extremely apologetic voicemail for the HR manager and sent an email as well expressing how sorry I am and stressing that I am still very interested in interviewing if they haven't filled the job already. I still haven't heard anything back.
What should I do? I hope I am not forever banned from this hospital! It is a great hospital and I was hoping to get a job there someday. I made such a stupid mistake! Is there any way I can redeem myself?

Sorry you mixed it up but employers really frown upon a no show. You probably won't hear from them.

I am so sorry that happened to you. How did you get the dates so confused? That is quite a difference between dates. All you can do is apologize and hope they offer you another chance and if not, move on to something else. Begging doesn't look good either. Another nurse manager in the hospital may give you a shot...you never know.
Nurse managers usually do not tolerate missing an interview or being late, unless there was an emergency: car accident, death in he family, ect. I was once 20 minutes late for an interview due to getting lost I was extremely apologetic, but the NM was very short with me and needless to say I didn't get the job. BIG lesson learned...that hasn't happened since.
I wouldn't be surprised if you don't hear from them again. So sorry

I was once 30 minutes late for an interview due to writing down the time wrong... I actually was 10 minutes "early" (according to when I thought the interview was) but I didn't want to disturb anyone so I sat quietly in the lobby waiting for my appointment. Boy was that embarrassing!
I didn't get the job but a couple weeks later I got a different one which works out a lot better for me... so no regrets.
I don't know how I got the dates so confused! I got a call for the interview during a time when I was taking two accelerated classes and working full time, so I was in a constant state of panic. I'm sure that has something to do with it.
I would just learn from it and move on......nothing you can do now.

I think that opportunity has passed. I would apply again if there is another opening you would like to pursue.

As the other posters stated, you probably won't hear from them. The lesson to be learned is two fold........repeat to the scheduler the date and time and IMMEDIATELY put it in your phone/planner/calendar.
It just wasn't meant to be but something will come along

Same thing happens to me. I got lost trying to find the right building and was about 15 minutes late. I called and let her know I'd be late, but as soon as my short interview was over, I received a " thanks but no thanks" email. Like, before I even got home.
Lesson learned.

If any applicant is a no-call, no-show for an interview, we remove them from consideration for any future openings.

You called to explain...there is nothing else you can do about it. I agree with the others: it's not likely that you'll hear from them again. All you can do now is learn from this experience.
As soon as I schedule anything I make sure I'm clear on the date (repeat it back to the person or e-mail for confirmation) and put it right on my calendar, which syncs between my laptop, my cell phone and my Gmail account.
Good luck with your job hunt.
