I failed my nursing exam AGAIN!

Published

Hello everyone. So at my shcool they require us to take the TEAS V exam. The first time I took it I bought the ATI book from my school's bookstore, studied for a week and did not pass. I firgured I didn't give myself enough time to study. This time I studied with the same ATI book AND bought the McGraw Hill book and studied for over a month diligently even a few times a day and STILL failed. I mean I don't know what else I could have done. I feel so stupid and this is the only thing that's holding me back from applying to the program and getting on a waiting list. Now I cannot take it again and have to meet with a counsler and take a remediation program. Do you guys think this is a sign that maybe nursing is not for me? If I cannot pass an entrance exam will I not make it in a nursing program?

why is the science section so hard? I was hoping the TEAS study guide would be enough

 look sometimes obstacles get us in the way but if you really want to do nursing, keep going for it.... maybe not that school but another school will take you in.

back when I was applying to my local school you had to have at least a 75% or better on the NET (kinda like the teas to enter school) and I failed it TWICE even after studying.

I got letters for alternative programs--- but I really wanted to be an RN so I just looked elsewhere-- I ended up completing RN school at a neighbor county community college & passed boards the first time :clown:

so don't give up on your dreams. you can do anything you set your mind to.

I feel like I am the only with a 40%. :-(

Nothing from the ATI book that's for sure.

Nothing from the ATI book that's for sure.

nothing from the ATI study guide helps with the science section?

I flunked the science section of the TEAS V by a long shot. Like 38% or 39% was my score, it was brutal. However, it was not the end of the world. I was still allowed into the nursing program, I was just placed into Allied Health Science for a semester. My school used the TEAS V science strictly to just test out of the allied health science class. Nicely enough, I'm acing the allied health science class (Biology/Chemistry).

Are there any other schools that don't rely so heavily on the TEAS test? I found when looking at schools that Technical colleges for the LPN programs, followed by Community Colleges, were more lenient in how they used the TEAS scores, than the larger Universities that required higher scores just to even get onto the waiting list.

this is sooo discouraging. I dont know why they make the TEAS science part soooo hard.

I don't think failing the TEAS means you're not cut out for nursing. But how prepared were you before taking the exam? You say you studied for a month but was all the material new to you or review? How long since your last math class? Bio class? If you're weak in math, then maybe you can take a math class? If you're weak in the science, maybe take a remedial bio course? I don't think it's the end for you. You can still make it happen but see what the counselor says and maybe they can help you become more familiar with the material needed for the test.

Thanks everyone for your comments support. Hopefully when I meet with a counselor they won't make me take the whole remediation program.
