I failed my LPN national exam (Canadian)

Published

I feel so depressed..only 2 ppl in my class failed (Includes me) and I am so sad. I cannot believe that I failed.... I have a total of 3 months to study for the re-write. I let my friends, my family and myself down. I fear that my classmates will make fun of me or think that I'm stupid.... (I wont seem them ever again but still). I'm only 19...and I get 3 chances to rewrite this exam. I was incredibly sick the day I wrote my exam..had tonsilitis, a mild fever and a total of 4 hours of restless sleep. I'm not going to blame it on that ..:(

What were your areas of weakness? Study up on that and keep using the CPNRE prep manual.

Just remember when you pass on your second writing that your backpay will only be backdated to June.

You are wise not to blame your failure on your physical condition, because you will wind up working on days when you're not a 100%

Now go study.

I'm not sure yet...cuz I just entered my last name on the website..so i'm not 100% sure if I did pass or fail..but the rest of my classmates are showing up on the CLPNBC website...but I more than likely failed the exam.

Anyways, I did study the CPNRE prep in and out and got 90%+....but I will continue to study that.

Can you explain to me what you mean when you say that my backpay will only be backdated to June?

thanks for the tips! :)

So you're not 100% sure if you failed? I wouldn't think you would have the results yet, wasn't it just writen about 3-4 weeks ago? It would not say on the CLPNBC website if you passed or failed. Your name should still be on there with "interim" license listed. If it's not, it doesn't mean you failed. There was a blip with their website a few months ago and one of my licenced classmates who moved out of the country temporarily wasn't listed at all and people thought she gave up or lost her license and this wasn't the case at all. She showed back up on the website about 2 weeks later.

Wait until you get something in the mail before announcing that you failed.

I am in Ontario and I had to wait over a month and even then you couldn't find out without calling. Why don't you wait and see if you actually failed? Some of my classmates got their results quite a while before I did(10 days in one case).

This isn't true in Canada. Most schools have a pass rate of over 95% of a graduating class. My college listed a pass rate of 99%.

During my working life, I've only met one person who failed more than once.

Also, up here it's a legitimate fear. Our exam is only written on specified date during the year. Three fails means the would be nurse has to return to school for a refresher course. It's not like the US where there are multiple attempts to achieve a practice permit.
