Wow! That's a great GPA. I think that nursing instructors are difficult graders. They expect perfection. Life is not perfect. We find that out after leaving nursing. If a person is perfect in nursing school, they tend to burn out quickly in the real workd because they find out perfection is not possible. Be good to you and enjoy school. You're doing great. And....remember. You are a masterpiece in progress. You're not finished yet.

I think you are doing wonderful. I too dropped to a 3.47 this semester and lost my honors status. I hope to bring it back up so I can grad with honors (know it doesn't matter, just want to do it for me). Nursing courses can be brutal. And ditto what Audrey said.

A GPA is only one measure of your education. The more important question is do you feel you learned the material well?

My oldest sister is a nurse of 30 years. She went to nursing school back when things were strict down to the stockings (not pantyhose) students could wear during clinical. She has severe vision impairment and a learning disability. She studied and I mean studied every hour that she was not in school. She graduated from nursing school with a C+ average. Since that time she has received numerous awards for her nursing professionalism, true compassion and love for her profession. Returning patients have asked for her and she sees her job as a calling.

The morale here, it's not whether or not you graduate with a 3.5 or a 4.0 but what kind of nurse you end up being.

Enjoy your schooling and get the most out of it. You'll be a better nurse for it!

Happened to me, too. I wanted so badly to graduate with honors. Now I am just wanting to GRADUATE, period. I wanna get this torture over with so I can go out there and do some nursing.

Hang in there. It won't matter once school is over.

Somewhat irrelevant, but worth a laugh and an improved perspective: My oldest boy is a senior in high school. We've been telling him all his LIFE how important grades are but he just couldn't be bothered. NOW he decides (in the last several months) he's going to college for SURE. I call to check his GPA, which I know is kinda iffy, and OMG. Are you ready for this???

Same here. I was a 4.0 student before the nursing program. In the past 4 semsesters I've made 2 A's and 2 B's. Wow, those B's can really bring down the GPA! I could have made all A's, but that would have meant all work and no play for the entire two years, and I just couldn't do that to my kids. Sometimes you just have to let it go.

Thank You every one for your posts. I know you are all right, but it is hard to let go sometimes. I am very glad to be graduating this spring since quite a few that I started with are not. I just want to show all the people who said I would never do it a thing or two. I have 4, 5, 8 & 36yo children or should I say 3 kids and a hubby! I get confused sometimes! I do the nursing classes plus the pre-reqs I couldn't take at my first school and I work. I know it is alot, but I want to show my kids how important it is and they should give it their all.

Well, I am in the opposite situation. I have returned to college after about 11 years, right out of high school. Now that I am determined and know what I want, I am struggling with my 2.5GPA that I received those 11 years ago. My advisor tells me that they really take into consideration my current semesters, but it really scares me. I now have a 3.0GPA.
