As mentioned in the thread's title, I fulfilled the remaining requirements for my BSN degree from WGU this afternoon. My journey took a little more than 10 months from start to finish, required the completion of 34 credits, and cost approximately $5,800 due to a prorated second term.
Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind.
I know absolutely nothing about the Nursing Honor Society, but perhaps someone more knowledgeable will come along and answer the question. :)
Unfortunately, WGU does not have a Sigma Theta Tau chapter, so no dice on joining them as a BSN student. HOWEVER, after you've earned your BSN, you can apply to STTI as a Nurse Leader. You will have to write a short essay demonstrating how you have met achievement in nursing.
If you're inducted in time, you'll be able to wear your honor cord at graduation. :)
Hey there, I've been following your progress through wgu since day 1, commuter! Congrats on getting your BSN. Just have a few questions, can i apply to wgu immediately after i finish my ADN (and start shortly after) , even before taking the nclex? I would love love love to start my bsn early and get it as fast as possible. I'm not sure what the rules are in general about this. Whichever the case, I've been pretty set on getting my bsn at wgu regardless, just wondering if i can start immediately after graduation. Thank you in advance :)
Since it is an RN-to-BSN completion program, you will definitely need an RN license as an admission requirement. A holder of an ADN degree is not an RN unless (s)he has passed NCLEX and been issued an RN license. Also, you will need to be working as an RN at the time you apply because it is a competency based program.can i apply to wgu immediately after i finish my ADN (and start shortly after) , even before taking the nclex? In addition, WGU grants 50 credits for submitting proof that you possess an active RN license. I would not have been able to complete my degree requirements so expediently without having been awarded those 50 credits.
Good luck to you!
I am a psych RN....I have just entered the WGU RN to BSN program and am concerned about getting into graduate school for PMH-NP... a Master's Program not offered by WGU..... are you applying to grad school? Have you heard anything from any other WGU grads who attempted to go elsewhere for graduate studies? Thanks.
One of our frequent posters (meanmaryjean) was recently admitted into a DNP program at the University of Southern Indiana after having completed her BSN and MSN degrees online through WGU. And plenty of WGU grads have been admitted into graduate degree programs.I am a psych RN....I have just entered the WGU RN to BSN program and am concerned about getting into graduate school for PMH-NP... a Master's Program not offered by WGU..... are you applying to grad school?
