You are doing IT right? What types of jobs are you interested in once you finish? As for me, I'm thinking of getting my MSN in education. I would like to take a year off between degrees though, because I am worn out (LPN, then ADN, now BSN). I really think that I would like to teach in some shape or form. Weighing my options. However, I do think that I'll attend one of the more well known local universities for that. My hospital offers impressive reimbursement for grad nursing programs, and even though I love WGU, I know that I'll have a better shot with employers if I come from a program with a great local reputation.

I just finished (and passed!) my BSN coursework yesterday with WGU. I would suggest that you ask student services to assign a new student mentor if you and the current one don't really 'click'. My first mentor wasn't so great, and she eventually quit. My second mentor was a fantastic motivator, and a great person for me to discuss my ideas with. So for my OA classes, I completed the practice assessments before I did any studying. If I passed with a good margin, I scheduled the OA and took it. If the margin wasn't so great (or I didn't fully understand a concept) I studied the area that I didn't do so well in. This info is provided to you in the report generated after taking the practice assessment. Then when I felt comfortable, I retook the practice assessment, or just scheduled the OA. For PA classes, I went directly to Taskstream to look at the tasks. All you need to do is pass those tasks to pass the classes. Don't get sidetracked by all of the busywork in the course of study (just breeze through it, go back if you need to while doing your paper/project). I utilized the resources and sample papers/tip sheets in the Course Announcements area of the class (especially the Chatter). Follow the rubric, and you will pass each PA on the first attempt. Many times they are not looking for the most in-depth papers (as I eventually found out), just enough to prove your competency and ability to follow directions. Many PA classes have 'Self Guided Cohorts', which are emails with all of the study sheets and videos compiled into one easy to follow document to walk you through what you need to do and learn for the class. I found those very helpful, and unlike the regular cohorts, you could move through the class as quickly as you wanted.

I finally finished my RN-BSN program at WGU and I'm so happy! What a relief, I am such a procrastinator and I really put forth a lot of effort in this program. I love learning though, and I truly took a lot away from this school. Can't wait for graduation at Disney World next week!!

I would say B. Find out why they think this, maybe a family member is allergic, or they had symptoms when they were near peanuts. As for A, they haven't actually stated that they have eaten peanuts before.

Why don't you shadow a couple nurses in specialties that you are interested in for a shift (or two). See what real nursing is like, and then decide. Ask family, friends, and colleagues if they have any nursing friends who would be willing. With such an over abundance of nurses out there right now, chances are that someone you know knows a working nurse. I would not recommend entering into this profession blindly, only to end up with debt, regret, and burnout. You may love it. If not, allied health careers may be worth looking into. Good luck !

I am not an NP or PA, but my hospital uses the term LIP, Licensed Independent Provider. It sounds more respectful than Midlevel or Physician Extender.

I just started working at a very large hospital in a metropolitan area. I pay $30/month to park blocks away at an offsite lot, then I catch an employee shuttle to my building. It definitely adds minutes to the day, but at night and on weekends I'm allowed to park in the lot closest to my building.

Yes but for the Clinic $18.19 is the hourly rate for your 10 weeks of orientation for the nurse residency and then your pay increases to the new grad rate of $ 24.74 hourly.

I am currently in the RN-BSN program at WGU, and I can't speak more highly of it. I'm learning, moving at my own pace, and loving it! I started on August 1st, needing 39 CUs, and have completed 9 CUs to date. In 3 weeks! I have never taken online classes before, and WGU is very easy to adjust to. If you have a few hours to spend on schoolwork today, fine. If you need to take 3 days, or even a week off to focus on other things, that's fine too! The school is affordable, as well as both regionally and CCNE accredited. I would totally recommend WGU to anyone needing the flexibility and self-paced learning that they provide.
