Here is my story.....I completed school 12 years ago, took the NCLEX in March of this year for the first time and failed with 205 questions. I re-took the exam yesterday and found out this am I passed. I must admit when I was answering my 86th question yesterday I felt I was going all the way to the end just as before. I had mixed emotions when the computer stopped at around 170 questions. I had no idea if I passed or not....I was up all night long and will try to get some sleep once I complete this post. However, I feel energized enough to go for a nice walk in the park...but its too cold, so I'll try to sleep instead. I say all this just to try to motivate those who have failed in the past and may feel you will not ever pass. Whatever you do please do not give up, believe in yourself, pray and pray some more. When testing don't worry so much about running out of time, take your time and rule out the options you know for a fact are incorrect and apply your nursing knowledge to select the best response and you will pass! Stay positive, even if you may doubt your ability to pass don't say you will fail, say outloud you will pass. Actually I must admit Algernon gave me motivation to take the exam for the second time. I thought if he can take the exam without studying and I have studied, what are my chances of passing???? As he said, it is just a test and worst case, I had to tell myself even in the event I don't pass this time I can always test again. And you can too.....don't give up! Thank you Jesus!!!!!! :bowingpur
Studyinghard2bLPN I used the kaplans strategies book and did the practice questions in the back of that book. As I answered the questions I'd review the rationals for the ones I answered incorrect. I think if you use several different books it become too much to absorb and that makes it overwhelming. I also opted to go to the bookstore or library to study rather than staying home where there are distractions. Best of luck to you, you can do it !
Just buy or borrow one up to date review book, I used Kaplans strategies 2009. Take your time taking in the tips and practice the questions in the back of the book. For any question you get incorrect study the rational and understand it completely. Believe in yourself and take your time with it....

LVdreamer, thanks! Yes Algernon did inspire me, but I still wonder if he passed or not????? I hope he didn't get discouraged if he didn't pass because he sure helped me get going.
