Question on how to put my name on application for board licenseure
Hi. I too have graduated from the Phils and gotten married when I came back to Cali. I'm not sure if we're in the same situation, but this is what I did. When I applied, I simply used my maiden name all throughout. I decided to have my name changed to my married name as soon as I passed my board, considering how difficult it could get to have your name changed in the school you attended to (well, at least for my school, that is). Not to mention if you were to do that while you're here in the states. Well, that's how it worked for me. Changed my DL, SS, and everything else as soon as I passed my board to avoid any mishaps or additional required papers to go about with the processing. Just the same, I suggest that you call the BON just to make sure which would be better. Goodluck to you.

Has everyone ever taken the live course before?
I agree! Really depends on the individual. As for me, it was such a huge help simply because it helped me focus more. During discussion, it also helped me remember info on some of the topics. You're very lucky if you also have a good instructor with a good sense of humor, it keeps the discussion alive. Of course, they would also get you used to practicing whatever strategy they have. Other than that, it was very useful in a way that the other fellow students would also share some of their tips in remembering facts. I sched my exam and took the first available date when the class ended and passed nclex with 75 questions. Goodluck to you! :wink2:

September 2008 support group!
Hello zaylee!!! Thank you! I'm not a bookish person so, i've done most of my studying by doing the practice questions from the cds provided by friends and families (Mary Hogans, Lippincott, Saunders, and a bit of Mosbys) also with Saunders 3rd ed, Kaplan course book, and Nclex made ridiculously simple for references. Made it a habit to do at least 150-200 questions a day (M-F only). I've also used Kaplan's decision tree when I took the exam last week and for the infection control... I've used the mnemonics posted from the fact throwing thread (very useful!). Actually, that was the only thing I used when answering those infection control questions. Thank you to whoever came up with that! Gave myself 2 months to review. 75 questions in 2hrs (im a slow reader :wink2:), 25 SATAs, bunch of infection control, prioritization, delegations, cohorting, some pharma, and no calc. By the way, this is my 2nd attempt. 1st attempt- ran out of time after 182, over analyzation is not tooooo goood! You can also pass this exam zaylee! If i can, i know everyone else can too. Goodluck!

hi guys! been checking this site for quite awhile now. just wanna thank you all for all the support! took the exam on the 18th and just found out today that i passed. i never thought i'd be able to post that on here. the wonderful encouraging words have been very helpful! for those who will be taking the exam in the near future, the fact throwing thread has been very helpful. do check that thread, it's a good quick review right before the exam. like what the others have been saying, I too didn't tell everyone that i'll be taking my exam. im having trouble with test anxiety already and i didn't want anything to add into that. again, thanks everyone and of course to the FATHER above. I wish everyone a success! Gotta go step out of the house now. finally, i can relax.... :wink2:
