  1. Well..... I did give my two weeks notice and now I have a job I love. I had to be true to myself and not just settle for less than what was an ideal workplace for me.
  2. If I do not work in direct patient care, am I required to give a two weeks notice before quitting?
  3. Algernon, I am a nurse today partially because of your post. I failed the first time and did not want to take it again...that is until I read your post. You gave me the determination to pass the NCLEX, I only hope and pray that those who have read your post can motivate you as well. I believe in you, and I know you believe in you, so please re-take the NCLEX, you can and will pass.
  4. I had this same problem...everyone I spoke with said "sorry, we need experienced nurses". I'd ask how do I gain experience if no one will give me a job and one replied " honey, I'm sorry, I don't know." I agree with the last post...you must appear confident and eventually someone will give you a chance. Please do not give up. You've come too far! Just hang in there. I felt like I was banging my head against the wall, but I just knew I had to keep banging until the wall came down.......you can do it.
  5. How much should a new grad expect to receive for starting pay for home health in Virginia?
  6. I wish I could get an office job. I am a new licensee with no job....everyone seems to want at least 1 year experience before they will consider you. Well.........how do I get the experience if no one will hire me? I've taken care of a family member for 1 year, did trach care and peg tube care, so I do know some things.
  7. UVA Grad Nursing, the hospitals post opening on the website and I only saw 1 or 2 openings. I will apply for them, however everyone wants at least 1 year experience. I am so discouraged. Oh, I'm a LPN. I suppose I can still call their HR dept...it's worth a try.
  8. I would consider the DC area. I lived there a few years back.
  9. Flames9, I am in Richmond. And I've applied at a couple of nursing homes and home health agencies.
  10. I just received my license and I do not know of any places hiring nurses without experience. I'd love to work in a physicians office, but will consider anything just to obtain experience.
  11. congratulations!!!!! you see...all that worrying for nothing. i felt the same way you did and i too passed. for some reason that test takes alot out of you and makes you doubt yourself. i wanted to cry after i took my test but i couldnt because i still held on to hope of my passing. you did it!!!!!! go celebrate!!!! :yeah::yeah::yeah:
  12. Studyinghard2bLPN: I didint really give myself a time frame. I just knew I had to take my time but also get it done. On those days when I felt I couldnt pick up a book to study, I just didnt pick it up! I gave myself time to live my normal life while at the same time studying. I did a little studying each day, not hours and hours as some people did. That was too much for me. Everyone is different so I believe you will find the way that works best for you. You will know its working for you when you start answering the questions correctly. I had to think like that old Nike commercial ad.....JUST DO IT! The saying "nothing beats a failure but a try" is so true. Also, I did not tell anyone I was preparing for the exam for the second time...so that cut down on the outside stress. While taking the exam I took breaks and I think that helped me too. I'm sending you prayers and hopes of your passing too!
  13. Just buy or borrow one up to date review book, I used Kaplans strategies 2009. Take your time taking in the tips and practice the questions in the back of the book. For any question you get incorrect study the rational and understand it completely. Believe in yourself and take your time with it....
  14. Congrats to you!!!!!! You did it. I am so glad you did not give up on your goal of becoming a rn. :yeah::yeah:
  15. Studyinghard2bLPN I used the kaplans strategies book and did the practice questions in the back of that book. As I answered the questions I'd review the rationals for the ones I answered incorrect. I think if you use several different books it become too much to absorb and that makes it overwhelming. I also opted to go to the bookstore or library to study rather than staying home where there are distractions. Best of luck to you, you can do it !
