After looking at the picture listed a bit tonight...I did some research and looked at some pics of Littmann's. The one I got looks like a Sprague to me. I emailed the seller and she claimed that it is not marked, but she knows it is because she got it "at a sale" and the lady told her it was, plus her best friend has one and told her it was a Littmann as well.

Hopefully the link works!
What do you think? I am hoping I am wrong or at least that the woman didn't know she was selling the wrong brand!
Thanks.
I just want to point out that ALL Littman's have the rubber tubing going up each side of the metal pieces of the earpieces. NO Littman has a bare metal/aluminum piece between the earpeices. If it has one at all it is covered by the rubber (or whatever material the tubing is made of).
I think Littmann used to make a sprague type scope years ago...no matter it still wouldn't be worth searching for (and probably well before Littmann's designer colour days). This above description was the best since there are still some relatively older Littmanns around on ebay and at work that do not have the logo on the diaphragm or the squishy eartips (oh! I love those!) older ones also have a metal rim holding the diaphragm that is still tunable but different from the floating diaphragm they have now. I'm only saying this because they do last for years and if I was looking I'd consider a older model Littmann for a good price.
Otherwise I think the only thing that might be confused for a Littmann is the ADC adscope, which comes in several models all of comperable appearance and quality...and these days probably comperably priced, too. My poor stethoscope is actually a combination of Littmann and ADC parts...there's no mistaking it for anyone else's :rotfl:
I agree, not a Littman. She must not have known. If you have won the auction, contact her. Explain the situation. Happened to me before with a video camera. It was a mini camera. Not what I wanted. We agreed that they would auction it again if I paid the re-sell fee. I did and no negative feedback was left. Good luck to you.
Aren't the Littmans all engraved around the upper rim of the metal end? I just bought one from Littman and even if they do not all have the big "L" logo, I seem to remember that they all at least had the type/style (master classis, cardio, etc.) engraved.
Maybe this just applies to newer models? Just my 2 cents....
It is not like me to bid on something without doing some research first! My husband will do the "I-told-you-so" for sure! He hates when I try to be frugal and buy things used...especially for something as important as this for nursing school!
I have emalied the seller...hopefully she will not send it out and give me a refund. I was as polite as I could be and just assume she didn't know what she was selling.
Thanks for your help...I knew I could count on you!
Looks like a Sprague. It is certainly not a Littman.

You can purchase these pretty cheaply brand-new. (the one I found was like 8.00 at this site). I had one in nursing school---not a bad steth, but not worth $35. either.
Good luck, I hope you find what you need and want! The above site DOES sell Littmans of varying qualities/prices.
Doesn't look like a Littman to me.

If you used paypal to pay, you should be able to file a claim with them for item not as described. But first of all, give the seller a chance to make the situation right. Obviously this is not as described if she's saying it's a Littman.
To my knowledge, ebay recently has/or is implementing a new policy that before you can leave or receive negative feedback, you must go through a dispute process to see if things can't be worked out.

My husband and I both sell on Ebay and nope as stated above that isn't a Littman, yes they do come in purple, but what I wanted to say is looking at her feedback, she has good feedback, I am betting this lady just didn't know. Give her a chance to make it right, then if not, go from there.
