Hello everyone,

I just need to vent/get advice on this.

I just found out yesterday via FEDEX letter I received that the accelerated program that was supposed to start on jan 16, is postponed until august 25. I was REALLY upset. They said that it was because the instructor gave short notice and LEFT. They are having an information day about this on jan 16 with the dean and assistant dean. They have offered us to take fundamentals of nursing via audit being that we were given short notice. My question is, come time for this meeting, what do you think I should suggest and/or ask? I do want to do this program, but this will set me back another 6 months and I cant apply to anywhere because the deadlines for the fall have past already. I am at a loss, but I am trying to find ways to keep myself positive about this.......thanks in advance for taking time to read this.

You know schools always say they reserve the right to make changes...but that's silly..To cancel classes due to ONE instructor...what did everyone else forget how to teach? These things happen though, and there's not much you can do...but take anything they offer which might reduce your caseload in the future, or give you a much needed skill for nursing...sometimes I wish I did respiratory tech first....would make things more interesting...

That sucks. I've heard of situations like this happening before but at least they're having a meeting with you all to discuss it. I would ask if there are any classes that would benefit in the program that you can take while you wait or if there are any class in the program that you can take. I know the schools here have other required classes other than nursing ones to get your degree. If not a pharm, phlebotomy, or med terminology(if you have no experience with these) would be helpful. Depending on your area like somone said you could take a foreign language class although I want to take a sign language class.

I would also see if I could find any current students to see what's going on in the program usually instructors don't just up and leave. There may be some problems going on that you might not want to get involved in during your education.
