I can't believe this just happened!!!

Here is some background information first: My school just opened a multimillion dollar health education building with all the bells and whistles! (We are the first cohort to have access to all the shiny stuff!) There have been multiple tours from other schools and groups coming by since the quarter started.

Fast forward to yesterday, I was waiting for a friend to be done with her skills check off test. I was chatting with another student when a group of well dressed people came by and then we saw our nursing program director and said "hi". Then a man stepped out from behind her and asked if we were students when we said "yes" he handed both of us business cards and said "we are hiring" then left with the rest of the group. Upon closer inspection of the card I realized that it said President and CEO of blank!!!

Here's the kicker, I didn't realize until I showed my husband the card that he left his personal cell phone number on the back HANDWRITTEN!!!!

So here entails my question, obviously he's not going to remember me two years from now when I graduate (plus his info could change) so should I contact him in a few days and what should I say?!?

Thanks in advance!!

I also think that this is bit sketchy.... when a major organization is interested in partnering with a nursing education program, it is done in a much more transparent way, not one-on-one in random hallway encounters during a building tour. It is not unknown for people in positions of influence to take advantage of their positions for unscrupulous purposes. If he had handed off his card and said "contact Miss X, our HR nurse recruiter and tell her I have referred you...." I would be much less suspicious.

Clinical managers are the people who actually "hire" new nursing staff. The only people hired by the CEO are those that report to her.

While it can't hurt to reach out to him for purposes of networking, I agree with others that something about this sounds a bit "off."

*update*

So I sent a professional email and no response as of yet but it doesn't hurt to try!

Yes! Definitely stay in contact! You can to keep "networking" as much as you can so that you have a lead to follow after you graduate!
