should I attend a job fair?

Published

hi everyone

i graduated from rn program in may of last year, and i waited until i take my nclex test to look for a job in the hospital. i never thought that i'm going to have any problem with finding a job, but almost a year later, i still cant find a job. i've applied for a job in many hospitals, but either hospitals did not call me for job interviews or after i had my job interview i was told they are not interested because i do not have any experience. i found out that a local hospital is going to have a job fair for new grads next week. my question is, do you think i should attend job fair and ask them if i can work as a new grad even if i passed my nclex? do you think its good idea to tell interviewer that i'm having a hard time finding a job as a new grad? what do you think i should do?

Definitely go to the job fair. You ARE a new grad because you haven't worked yet as a nurse. So, a new grad orientation is what you need. Just tell them that you waited until after passing your NXLEX to apply and that you seem to have missed the timing for some of the programs for last year's new grads. Now you are seriously looking.

Make the contact. See what they have to offer. Make a good impression. ... If they like you, you might get a job that will start right away.

It can't hurt.

I think attending that job fair greatly increases your chances of getting hired. And llg was right in advising you how to explain the delay. Good luck.

Yep, go to the fair. You never know what doors will open up for you. And, you can build a bit of confidence with interviewing skills and selling yourself. Good luck!
