How is it? What can we expect?

No program is without flaws, but I feel like this program is pretty good in comparison with many others I’ve heard about. A new program director (who is also one of our instructors) took over this cohort, and they have been making some changes that I can’t really speak to as I don’t know how things were during the previous cohort. There are a few didactic instructors and they can seem a bit strict in some aspects, but they really do want what’s best for all of us. If you need something and reach out to them they are very caring.

Sim labs can be nerve-wracking, and there are multiple days each semester, but you’ll get through it. Scheduling clinicals is the most stressful part of the program in my opinion since you have to compete against your fellow classmates for the days you want. As soon as they they release the tentative dates, make a plan for which days you want to schedule and be ready at 0600 on the day they open the Canvas calendar for reservations because they fill up very fast.

You will have to make more than one trip in the first semester as there is mandatory orientation and skills check-offs during the first week of January. Skills check-off is nothing like how it was in the LVN/LPN program and they are mainly just checking to make sure you are safe. I was so nervous about it but once I saw that it wasn’t like my LVN program I was much more at ease. Make sure to be punctual to sims and clinicals.

You will use ATI throughout the program for many anssignments and will have several proctored exams each semester. The majority are ATI exams with Proctorio, but the finals are with RPNow.  There are weekly discussion posts,  short quizzes, and sometimes an assignment. It really depends on the week. Some weeks there are no discussion posts so make sure to check.

Traveling so far away by myself has definitely been out of my comfort zone, but I’m grateful to be working toward my goals. Try to hookup with some classmates during orientation so you can plan your trips around the same time. It really helps to have a friend or two during the program. You can also save money by going in on AirBnB stays together. See if you can make a facebook page as well to keep each other informed and help answer each other’s questions.

You guys will do great!

Has anyone got any news yet? I got my email in yesterday. I was accepted into the program. Anyone else?

Congratulations. Any tips you can share to assist me when I apply?

I would say study like mad for the Kaplan nursing exam!

I was waitlisted for hutch last year, I had also applied to fairmont state and got in there. They have more than once a year applications, and I’ll be finished in November! I love it the only con is I’m sure it’s way more expensive than hutch but oh well gotta get it done fast!

Do you recall what you scored on your TEAS test when you were accepted ?

I've applied and have no idea what I'm up against, or what they accept since there is no scoring sheet like other colleges

My score wasn’t very high I believe it was like a 72, or somewhere in the low 70s. I know one classmate scored barely at the cutoff, and I have heard not sure if it’s true but that they select applications at random as long as you meet minimum TEAS scores, it’s not like hutch where it’s from highest to lowest. I’ll be done in two weeks and it was amazing, I’m not sure why I didn’t do it earlier!

Now that it is August 2023 - how have things been since graduating from Hutchinson Online LPN-RN program? Did you have any problems taking the NCLEX in your state? :-)

Hi everyone.. I have a question.. are we suppose to get Kansas state license after we get accepted or they just want to see your license from any state? I have Minnesota license and will have problem applying to other states as my education is Canadian and we didn't go through OB/peds clinicals.

The academic advisor said students have to work on multi state licenses if accepted but my question is wouldn't you need to live in compact state to be eligible for licenses?

Any insight would be appericiated. Thank you!
