Hurst Review (Online)....

Has anyone taken hurst review online before????....If so do u really have to print out all the lectures or can u get by with just viewing them online b/c my printer is broke HELP!!....

You have to write and fill out the lecture notes (print-outs) as you go (as well as you may write your own notes on the side as you review the lectures over and over again). Not sure how effective it is not to be able to fill in the blanks and not have the pdfs printed out in front of you - it's almost a must for this review and the way it is set up.

I absolutely LOVE the Hurst review. I have Kaplan (it was used by my school during my program) so we had access to it after we graduated in May to complete the live class and continue with the qbanks, qtrainers, etc. Kaplan, as you know, is strategy focused (which I think works to an extent), but I wanted content review as well. Saunders is just too massive for me and I'm an audio/visual/interactive learner (the thought of reading Saunders would put me to sleep). Hurst has been a great compliment/supplement to Kaplan.

Hurst is about knowing your core content and teaching it in a way that is easy to grasp (I always struggled with fluid and electrolytes and acid base imbalances until Hurst). So I would definitely say it is worth it. My scores on Kaplan have improved significantly, which says a lot because I think Kaplan questions are brutally tough (when compared to Hurst, Saunders, and a few of the others). They're just complex and make you really dissect what is being asked and what's the best answer - but you can't select the right answer unless you know your core content, which is where Hurst's value comes in. My studying has included Kaplan, Hurst, Lacharity and the all-nurses inspired study guide. I test next week - so ready to get it over with!

Yes I'm a hands on/visual/audio/interactive learner too!....and ur right those books will put u straight to sleep. I've taken Kaplan before and I really didn't like it. Im a repeat test taker of the NCLEX and I believe that the Hurst review will b good for me b/c of the way I've heard how they teach the core content as u said and many others in a easy way. I really am lookin forward to taking this review b/c I know it will help me in those areas that I am weak in I'm just sittin here tryna figure out wat Ima do bout this printer situation!!:uhoh3: Once I figure that out I can actually go online and register and begin my journey with Hurst. I've also been hearing alot about NCLEX4000 on all-nurses too.

I wish u luck and much success with ur Boards!!

Thank you!! Good luck to you as well! I think you will enjoy Hurst!

U welcome let me know how things work out for u and thanx mayb we can keep intouch!!

the hurst review is way to basic compared to the question I had on the NCLEX.. it was a complete waste of time.

Yeah but Kaplan was a waste of time for me until I learn content. So if you need content Hurst Review is good for that. I am going to keep using Hurst until I get the content down and then switch to Kaplan.

I took the Hurst Review live, 2x as required by my school! After the second review (right before we graduated), I started to buckle down. The lectures are fast paced, so taking notes as the instructor talk is important, but when the class was over, I went back online to listen to the lectures 1-2 more times. Hurst also has great handouts on lab values, infection control, meds, etc. I took their review tests & did questions from Saunders/Silvestri, NCLEX 4000, Kaplan workbook, & ATI. I also used the Kaplan strategies book to mainly help narrow down answers. I found it was easier to learn from one source, then practice questions from multiple places to get a feel for how NCLEX questions were & to broaden my core knowledge by reading rationales. I passed on the first try, 75 q's. My experience was that, none of the questions I practiced truly mirrored NCLEX questions. So knowing core content was absolutely key.
