I'm starting this course next week. Anyone else taking it or anything that sounds a bit like it? I really am not sure at all what to expect but I know I'm about to find out in a big, fat hurry!!

I haven't gone yet, it's an evening class (7:40-10:10, ugh!). But I'll definitely let you know. What textbook do you use? Ours is "Development Across the Lifespan" by Robert Feldman.

Ours is "Health Promotion Strategies Through the Lifespan" (Canadian Edition) by Murray, Zentner, Pangman and Pangman.

Ugh, those evening classes! I've avoided them this term but have an evening lab next term. Actually, I haven't had many evening classes but the one I do remember being a killer was Psychology of the Aging and the instructor and subject were both slightly depressing so it was definitely wearing LOL :rotfl: . Best of luck tonight!!!

Yeah, unfortunately I have to fit everything around my job, and this was the only section that fit into my schedule (though they do offer this course online...). I'm also doing A&P II on Saturday mornings. Blech. The things we do for a new career! I do sincerely hope the prof is good, I'm dreading the thought of an evening class with a dull instructor. I can only imagine how it was for you with that class!

I am taking Developmental Psychology kinda similar I guess with what you're taking. It's a flexible learning class its a lot of reading though, we take online quizzes. And have to watch all these video segments and email our reaction to our prof. Our textbook is Development thru Lifespan. It's really interesting :)

We use the same book. Fortunately we can use the cheaper and older third edition.

We start with conception and end with death. My professor is OK. He enjoys teaching and talking to his students. He is also the leader of our Psi Beta society. I may become a member later. ;)

Sounds like the course I am taking: Psychology; the Lifespan. The book is The Developing Person: Through the Life Span by Berger. Like others detailed, it starts with a basic overview of psych and then goes into details on human growth and development from conception to death. It is a really interesting class.

First class was last night! So far so good! There are maybe 12-15 people in my class, many nursing hopefuls and a few teacher-prep students and some who just thought it sounded interesting. The professor seems funny and personable... Our grade will be based on 4 tests, a research paper, and writing journal entries (as well as that ambiguous fluff of participation and attendance). And she noted that the lowest grade she's given in four years of teaching is a B-.

First lecture was mostly overview, a bit overwhelming, but it should come together as we actually get into the subject matter. Next week we start prenatal development which I find absolutely fascinating, so looking forward to that. Need to write a journal entry using Bronfenbrenner's model to describe what made up the different systems (microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, and macrosystem) at some point in my childhood.

I took it, it was kind of easy going but the tests were hard, especially the section on young children where we had to learn all the milestones and develpmental theorists. Everyone failed that test so the teacher decided to grade on a curve (the reason partly was we went a month without class, came back and immediately took the test). We had to do a case study which was fun and a presentation on one of the develpmental stages (me and my fellow group members had age 7-12 and did The Cat in the Hat and tore up the room). My teacher told us to learn the theorists backward and foreward cause they WILL show up on the NCLEX.

Well, I start this morning on this course!! Wish me luck!!!! It sounds interesting!
