HRSA 2021-2022

Nursing Students General Students

Updated:   Published

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

Hi!! I haven't experienced this issue but the application deadline was just extended to May 26, so I'm sure their IT dept will fix it for you before then.

Thanks for sharing this update! What a pleasant and relieving surprise ?

Application cycle has now been extended through May 26, 2021 (7:30 pm est).

From the email:

"HRSA has received a historic increase in funding this year under the American Rescue Plan. With this additional funding, Nurse Corps anticipates making significantly more awards including:

Up to 20 percent of total awards to nurse practitioners (NP) specializing in psychiatric mental health ; Up to $5 million to women’s health NPs and certified nurse midwife advanced practice nurses and registered nurses (RNs) who wish to pursue a career in women’s health.

Online applications must match the information submitted in the supporting documentation. Application packages deemed incomplete (e.g., blank, password protected, illegible, or incomplete application materials) as of the application deadline will not be considered for funding. The Nurse Corps SP will not accept requests to update an incomplete, rejected, or submitted application including changes to an applicant's school or discipline after the deadline. You may edit your application, if you have not addressed the above actions."

Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone! I started looking into the scholarship, but I can't help but feel hopeless because of how competitive it is. Is anyone on the same boat?

In this situation I would say out the blinders on and Shoot your shot! You never know! Don’t look at the numbers look at what you can bring to the table!

Hope those were some words of encouragement.

Hey guys! Right when I was about to throw my hands and forfeit the application for this year’s cycle since I didn’t get any acceptance into a nursing program, I just found out this week Monday that I got accepted to FIRST CHOICE ABSN PROGRAM! As I’m scrambling to see if I could realistically get my recommendation letters and other supporting documents in by May 6, I see a notice that HRSA extended the deadline... thank God! Praying for the best for you guys applying or had applied already to the scholarship program.

I have a question, are we suppose to put our Application ID and Name on every piece of supporting document, e.g. birth certificate? I heard that in the webinar but I didn’t see that in the guidelines. Thank you in advance.

Hi! Definitely reach out to the professors from your old program for the letter of recommendation.

Hey I had the same concern. I graduated three years ago too but with my BS, however, I attended community college within the last two year to do my prerequisites for an ABSN program and I contacted HRSA to find out if I could use any of my Professors from my prerequisites and I was told that I could. So if you took prerequisites recently, those Professors are great options too ??

Wow, that is amazing! Congratulations on your acceptance, God is definitely opening doors for you!!

To answer you question about the Application ID and Name, yes it has to be on ALL documents. Under 2(a) "Required Supporting Documentation" in the guidelines it states:

"Applicants must upload all supporting documents at the time of the online application submission. Each document submitted must include the applicant’s first name, last name, and application number."

I literally just resubmitted all of my documents because I only had it on the essays. Phew, I am so grateful that they extended the deadline!

Good luck to everyone applying!

Thank you so much for the clarification ?. I definitely overlooked that part in the guidelines out of anxiousness LOL.

Hi All!

Thank you so much for creating this thread! I am so grateful it was extended. I am currently working on trying to get the school details. So I have not been able to move forward. I hope the school replies soon to my email. Can someone possibly help in explaining how they got their dates regarding the school? I have attached the pic where I am stuck at and does not allow me to move forward. Thank you in advance

I don’t remember verbatim what the HRSA rep told me but she instructed me to put July 1 2021 to June 30 2022 for year 1. And for year 2, she told me to put July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2022. My program is a 15 month ABSN program and it start August 31, 2021 to December 2022 Basically it’s to ensure I have coverage for for the duration of the program since it’s more than a year. I’m sorry if that was confusing but I would suggest calling them directly and have them walk you through thy part.

Hi! I only put my ID # & name on the essay questions as instructed by the program information packet. You can call to double check for clarification purposes.

Thank you but @upNcoming_nurse clarified it for me! She confirmed that you do need to put your First and Last name as well as your Application ID on all supporting documents like stated in the packet on page 36 in section 2a.) ☺️ Just make sure you make those adjustments too.

Looks like we're getting mixed information from representatives. I called two weeks ago to clarify this and was told that I only needed to write it on the essays because everything else had my info on it. I also specifically asked about the birth certificate and was told that they would never make me write on that type of document. You can do whatever makes you comfortable or call like previously suggested ?
