Hey, did anyone apply for the HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program, and if so, has anyone gotten word on acceptance yet? I know that they weren't going to start making notifications until after July 1st, but I'm already going totally berzerk just waiting! I noticed that they checked my credit on July 2nd, but I have no idea if that means I made their first group pick or if they just automatically check the credit on everyone who made it into the first funding preference. Anyone else out there going crazy while waiting??
Haven't checked. Seems silly for me to pay to get it checked again to see if im being considered for it. I'm banking on me not getting it. I've already been bounced by a few other of my scholarship applications. All of them cited how their endowments are down severely due to the economy.

You can keep checking for free if you do Experion's "Trial period" of credit monitoring. They give you like 30 days to keep seeing your updated report if you sign up for the trial period. Then you just cancel the srvice before the trial period is up. That's what I do. I think a bunch of other credit monitoring services do this as well. But anyway, not like I know if HRSA checking your credit means anything good. Who knows! Guess we'll just have to wait:banghead: Good luck still!
I think that you get to see the report completed at that time for 30 days.
Nope, it'll update you if anythign shows up. That's actuallly how I found out my credit was checked. I was just a few days away from canceling when I got an email saying I had an update to my report. Then I looked and saw that they were talking about HRSA's check. But regardless, not like you need to have one more thing to obsess over these next few months! I know how madening this all is. Still wishing us all good luck!
Agrippa, did you have an EFC of $0?
I doubt it. I have a bachelor's too and am in an Accelerated BSN program. I wonder if they weed through the applications to see what kind of tuition everyone has. My program is only 18 months and I'm in-state tuition at a State University, so I can only assume that the overall amount I need is rather low compared to some who may have more years to go, or for those going to private or out of state universities. I have no clue, but I do wonder if they make decisions somewhat based around that. Who knows!
Does anyone know why they check your credit or what the criteria are? I am looking on the HRSA website, but don't seem to find it. I too have the EFC of 0, and got all my stuff in on time. I do know if you log into your HRSA account you can update your address, and it says that link will be disabled once they have made their decision, so nothing yet.....

They check it to make sure you don't have any loan defaults, very poor credt history, etc. There is NO way the govenrment is going to give out scholarship money to people who have a bad credit history. And certianly not if you have ever defaulted on a student loan. So, yeah, that is why they check.
But what I REALLY want to find out is whether or not they check the credit on ALL of the first funding preference people, or just those that get pulled for preliminary acceptance. If they just check the people pulled for the first round, that that means that all of us who have gotten our credits checked have a good shot...assuming our histories are all good. Mine's golden so no worries from me.
Good luck to all!

Seasoned...did you ever look further to see if your credit had been checked?
