Has anyone received notification about whether or not they got an 07-08 HRSA Nursing Scholarship yet? (I know it says late-september)
If you are on the first funding tier has your file been reviewed? Mine says no review has been done on it yet and I turned everything in on time. I have already called the folks at HRSA and they just said wait...

FYI---I spoke with them today about logging on---they said the status will not be updated online. My only question is is how can they ask you AND your school for their private bank information and then not need it.....there has got to be something with that?

What do you mean how can they ask you AND your school for their private bank information and then not need it? Did they specifically tell you that the information the requested from you not needed for any reason anymore?
Last year the status was updated online as people got selected for the scholarship.
*** is going on with these people... I really don't understand. This year they only funded 170 scholarships (as compared to 220 last year--give or take), which is a ~30% decline. No one really knows what's going on and, thus far, no one else has posted that they have gotten anything.
I just spoke with them as well, and they told me that I have to be s/p MVC with multiple self-care deficits and ambulatory issues in order to qualify for the scholarship. Additionally, I am only allowed to eat 3 ice chips qid prn if fever > 101F.
I am having stress and mental pain r/t HRSA and their hidden agenda--which consists of making us guess and second guess everything they tell us.

No~~~they did not tell me the bank information was no longer needed~~~but how can they ask for bank information~~~from the school as well as myself and not need it~~~just does not make sense to me~~~I know I am still waiting until the 30th, but I really don't just give bank information for no reason I guess what I am asking is can they legally ask for bank information without needing it?
Hopefully, other folks will come forward today and let us know if they got it as well.
Did you have to fill out the first preferencial paperwork that was e-mailed to folks a few weeks back?
As the folks at HRSA say "It isn't wrong or right, it is ONLY confirmed to be right or wrong after you call us 1000 times and get 1000 different answers or scenarios"

That is what I was wondering about---cause they asked for my bank information and the schools....and I wonder if legally they can request such information with not definitly having a need for it....hmmmmmm....will be interesting to know how many people provided all their bank information that did not receive the scholarship...Was there a W-4 form in your letter today, Nikki? I was just wondering how quickly that would need to be returned.

I indeed thought that them asking for my finacial information was a good sign. But maybe as you say "maybe it was a weeding out process). I didn't get a W-2 but the letter said that I would be assigned someone who will follow me through the scholarship program and they would be contacting me in the next couple of weeks.
They probably were only able to give out 170-ish scholarship because of the rising cost of education and the decrease in budgets for federally funded programs like this. Sucks but that is probably the reason. Congrats Nikki!
Thanks so much. I wonder if it made a difference that this was my last year in school. I still will need to do two years of service in exchange for one year of funding. Regardless, I'd be doing it anyway. But maybe they look at people who would cost less? It's a thought. Thank Nikki

There must be other [evil]hidden[/evil] criteria that they use to weed people out of the running for the scholarship. I thought I was first preference, but they must have changed their mind for some unknown reason.
Your line of thought could be dead on and correct. This whole scholarship application and the methods they use to decide who gets what is just way toooo mysterious for my tastes.
Imagine what they put the people who are currently serving their service obligation through.... that is scary to think about.
I also heard from HRSA that next years scholarship will only be awarded to 22.374 people, who have a -0.6345 EFC on their FAFSA.
