2012-2013 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Application

The application process hasn't even started yet but I didn't even find out about last year's scholarship until a couple days before the deadline. I did get my application in on time but was not fortunate enough to be a recipient. I intend to apply again for the upcoming scholarship. Any tips from those that were accepted? My EFC is 0, I'm in an undergraduate program, and my GPA is 3.4.

HRSA emailed me today and I have one week to upload the documents.

Yeah, I think it's the same for everyone. I guess I'm just worried that if I don't fill out the documents ASAP, they'll take away the award. Blame it on my nursing school-induced anxiety!

Someone had asked for the award recipients info:

3.84 GPA

BSN

Michigan

EFC 0

To everyone else still waiting, just remember this is only day one. They have a 28 more days to make decisions.

Haha! So true. It was such a pain to get my enrollment verification form filled out the first time. Feeling a bit more calm now, thanks!

Hi. I too got the email today saying I got the scholarship. I was super excited- then I logged in and read I was a finalist so I feel confused. Is there another round of selections after this? From reading the posts from previous years, I got the impression alot of people made it to the finalist stage- but then the awards were randomly selected from those who qualified. Eeek. Does anyone know for sure how hopeful we should be that we are actually receiving it?

They asked for a w-4 form (since we will be receiving "paychecks") and an enrollment verification form that a school official has to fill out.

When looking through the ones who posted their GPA and received the award, it's interesting that we all have around a 3.8 or above. I wonder if GPA played more into the decision for this year. ( and for those who's GPA isn't around that, it's just an observation, I am not saying you won't or can't receive the award if you don't have a certain GPA.

Hi! I've been following this thread for a while and will be applying for the scholarship NEXT year Congrats to the ones that won the scholarship! Maybe applicants with GPA of 3.8 or more had earlier responses, and they will give out more responses to applicants with GPAs lower in the next few days.

Hi all!!

I too received the congratulatory email today!:) I am beyond ecstatic! but timing was a bit off for me unfortunately because I have a trip planned from the 6th-12th and since I received it today, could not have the verification form filled out today, and so I might have to cancel my long-awaited trip:crying2:...but of course i understand this is way more important right now..I just feel bad for my husband, this was supposed to be our week to enjoy time before school begins..I know we will both be so busy once I begin school on the 28th...I just wish I received the email yesterday!!!
