2012-2013 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Application

The application process hasn't even started yet but I didn't even find out about last year's scholarship until a couple days before the deadline. I did get my application in on time but was not fortunate enough to be a recipient. I intend to apply again for the upcoming scholarship. Any tips from those that were accepted? My EFC is 0, I'm in an undergraduate program, and my GPA is 3.4.

Congratulations to everybody who received an email today!! For those who haven't, I called the help desk today and they said that all 350 awards have not been made yet. So don't lose hope!

Questions for folks who have received the award: What state do you go to school in? What is your EFC? How happy are you?!?! Congrats again!

I called too and they told me that they didn't have any information in the computer regarding how many awards have gone out and to watch my email closely. I'm glad they told you that!!! :) I'm not losing hope yet, but I am a bit discouraged. :( It's okay though...everything happens for a reason. Congratulations again to all that received it! This is an amazing opportunity for you.:yeah:

Hi Everyone!!! I just found out that I'm also a finalist for the award! This is my second time around applying and I'm beyond ecstatic. I'm still in a state of disbelief. Don't be discouraged if you haven't received anything yet as I'm sure there are still a lot more awards being given out. I actually did not receive an email at all notifying that I was a finalist, but when I logged into the portal, it said that I have been selected as a finalist and to fill out my bank account into, W-4 and another education verification form. My EFC is 0 and i'm from California. :)

Hi Everyone!

I've been following this thread for a while, and just made an account today to leave a comment. First off, congrats to those who have received the scholarship! Of course, after reading all of these it got me down seeing as though I haven't heard anything. I've been checking my credit report like crazy, and still have nothing. No emails either :(

So I decided to call today. After 15 minutes on hold, I talked to someone who informed me that they will be working right up to the deadline due to the amount of applications they received this year. I asked if I was still eligible and in the running, and he said, "Yes. They are in the process of verifying your recommendation letters and transcripts."

I'm still not sure what to make of anything. Just getting real nervous now! I'm from IL with an EFC of 0 btw. Trying to keep my head up though! Good luck to everyone.

What is everyone's GPA that got it?? That is the ONE thing that I am concerned about. My GPA is only a 3.2 (overall) but 3.5-3.6 (nursing). I was young and dumb 11 years ago and thoroughly screwed up my GPA freshman year. It has haunted me ever since. I explained that in my essays in hopes of them taking it into consideration.

I'm going to keep praying. My friend got her email after the semester started last year...so I know they work up until the very last day.

To those who haven't received any emails, please don't be discouraged. Today is only the first day, wish you all good luck.

When I read the email I almost scream in the middle of my med surg class but I wasn't the only one, my classmate who applied also rcvd the email and she jumped..it was exciting, we're the only two from our cohort who applied for that scholarship.

I'm beyond gratitude, that was my only hope for continuing on in this program.

I received the email today too. I'm wonder what happens next once we submit the additional paperwork? How much do we get after all? Congrats to everyone!

When are you all turning in your paperwork? There's no way I can get a school official to fill out my enrollment verification form today.
