I can't seem to find a thread on the latest round of Nurse Corps Applications, So I'll start. My initial point is more of me venting, but guess I'll ask - Should I even continue with my application? The new cycle and FAFSA wants us to use 2017 tax info, but in 2017, I was preparing for school and was employed full-time. Now that I'm collecting pennies and in dire need of assistance, it looks like my EFC is almost 8000. I can rarely work in reality. I'm really disheartened and confused as to why the FAFSA is set up like that.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
@Smcshane and @Izzystout, I found this from the application guidelines:
"The Nurse Corps SP award and contract is for the 2019-2020 academic year (July 1, 2019 – June
30, 2020). "
And this from studentaidhelp.gov.edu
" If you will be attending school from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020, you should fill out the 2019-20 FAFSA."
I hope you both still qualify. Update your application if you need to. I still don't qualify. ?
oh yay! someone started a thread!! ty for that. ? just as a question for those who submitted or anyone who knows. i just saw in the packet they wanted an application ID with the recommendation letters. is that true? mine already submitted theirs and they have every other requirement "but" the ID number... is that enough to discard the application?
5 minutes ago, Twochance said:@ciaraf, they want you to upload the documents with a header. That was my understanding. It should have your ID, your program type, and name I think
hi thanks for the reply! yes but i'm talking about the recommendation letters the recommenders uploaded! sorry if that wasn't clear. it mentioned in the handbook they want *them* to put our application ID in there too. did you guys give your application id number to your recommenders to put in their letter of recs?

I did not. They have already submitted them, so hopefully that is not going to be a problem.

ok, I didn't either. it literally was one sentence in the giant packet and i was like wait.. i dont think it'll cause it to be discarded. kind of frustrating they didn't put that sentence in the actual application portion concerning the letter of recs. but i think bc they didn't hopefully it is ok!
Hi—
I can shed some light. Robert (Richard?) - one of the reps on the phone conferences - has said in the past that it shouldn’t be a problem if your letter writers don’t include your ID. During the second teleconference, he said almost verbatim, “Don’t worry about it. We’ll figure it out.”
Just last week, someone on the phone asked the same question. This time, he said, “I don’t see why the person who wrote your letter didn’t see that in the instructions. They should have done so.”
This is obviously conflicting but I get the sense that they’ll be somewhat understanding about it. Hope this helps.

I think we use the FAFSA we filled out in 2018 for the 2019-2020 school year.
