I can't seem to find a thread on the latest round of Nurse Corps Applications, So I'll start. My initial point is more of me venting, but guess I'll ask - Should I even continue with my application? The new cycle and FAFSA wants us to use 2017 tax info, but in 2017, I was preparing for school and was employed full-time. Now that I'm collecting pennies and in dire need of assistance, it looks like my EFC is almost 8000. I can rarely work in reality. I'm really disheartened and confused as to why the FAFSA is set up like that.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Hi,
Congrats on your submission. We’ve been told, “As late as September 30,” but if you read previous years’ forums, people starting hearing as early as late August. They also don’t send out rejection letters until late September, which is nerve-wracking. Finalist announcements seem like they were in August as well. Credit check in June/July. Hope that helps.
Hey thanks for the quick reply!
I agree that really is nerve wracking since it's last minute and right before the semester begins for most of us. Ugh!
Well, I guess all we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed.
btw, HRSA is hosting a virtual job fair tomorrow (5/22) students are welcome. Did you register?
I did not. Wish I could join, but have to move everything hundreds of miles to start nursing school (lol)!!
Quick question for y’all. Under the “Eligibility” section, the second question asks if we have an “existing outstanding federal debt or liens.” I’ve never had a lien, but technically, isn’t an existing direct student loan from years ago considered “outstanding federal debt?” Was wondering if anyone else checked “Yes” due to a similar situation.
thank you.

I think that is meaning if you are in default on loans.

Pretty sure Master’s levels NP’s in the qualified specialties are considered as tier one. Please someone correct me if I’m wrong. DNP’s are lower tiered, however.

Hey everyone,
I just submitted my application this morning. This is my first time applying and I'm nervous but hopeful. Does anyone know when they send out decisions? I've read different answers to this. Thanks!
