However, you still have to pay a balance while in school, as they do not cover 100%. I had to pay about $3000 and even took out one loan of about $2000. As for the taxes situation wow what a pain. I had to pay the IRS a total of 12,000 back because of Nurse Corp.
You will get a W2 which basically makes it seem like all HRSA paid (tuition, stipends) is income although it is not! Many of us had to pay $10,000+ back.
I would say, use those same stipends put them away and pay HRSA.
They also were a pain in communication and paying tuition on time which depending on the school can be a huge issue. Luckily, my school was understanding but there were others who weren't so lucky.
On top of that, after graduating, they decreased their sited by a ton.
NOT TRYING TO SCARE ANYONE OUT OF IT!! Simply would like to share what I wish someone did with me so I was not blindsided. Best of luck to everyone with the scholarship and nursing school!
Wow, thank you for letting us know! I applied last month. What about after you graduated? Do you get to pick a location? How has it been for you?

Hey,
just out of curiosity, did you apply for the scholarship or the tuition reimbursement program? I just got off the phone with them and I was told that a Credit check isn't done for those who are applying for a scholarship. However, congratulations in advance everyone on YouTube says if they check your credit you're definitely in. Just spent an hour of my time looking up soft inquiries on my credit report ? …… Nothing!

I actually applied for the HRSA nurse corps loans repayment AND the NHSC scholarship this cycle, and I have had two credit checks. I thought there was a credit check for both because it's looking for defaulted federal loans, which would disqualify a person from any of the programs. I can't think of why else I would have two credit checks! Your comment about YouTubers gives me hope haha. Anyone know what happens if you're accepted for one, does that disqualify the other?
Hi everyone!
I just got a credit check through my Experian app as well!!
This is my second time, I was a recipient for my BSN and to be honest all my qualifiers are the-same but I was skeptical because I am in a CRNA program and I know tier one goes to BSN.
Back in 2017, I got credit check and that was a sign got accepted! Praying that we got it!!
