HPRP help

Hello I have a question that I'm hoping someone can give me advice on. I'm in the HPRP program for three years following a DUI in 2019. I have had a clean record with the program except in the very beginning I had a positive peth due to prior drinking before I signed the agreement. I've been sober for almost two years now but had a slip up last weekend. I had a few drinks last Friday and have to blood test today. I know it will be positive. My question is do I be up front about it now in hopes it will help or wait for the result to come back in about a week? I'm afraid if I'm honest about it now they may immediately pull my license to practice until the second test comes back decreased. Also should I just go and get another test tomorrow since it will show decreased level from today? That way I won't have to wait for another test. Coming from Michigan, I appreciate any advice thank you!

I would contact a licensing defense lawyer ASAP. I found mine on the https://taana.org website. I have recommended my lawyer to a few others and we've all been pleased with her assistance even tho she is a ball buster, for lack of a more politically correct way to say it. I'm not sure if I can say her name here or not but her initials are D.C. and she has an office in Howell, but does phone consultations. She works w/ HPRP all the time.

K. Every thank you so much I will try to look her up. I called a lawyer in the beginning that supposedly dealt with HPRP but he basically said whatever they say, you just have to comply and get through it..

I wouldn’t say anything, it might not be positive. Wait and see

Any news?

Hi yes it was positive as I assumed. My safety to practice was pulled last Monday and I've been out a week now waiting on my clean urine to come back. What usually takes a couple days has taken far too long as they are supposedly backed up. My doc is sending the safety to practice this morning so thank God for that. Talked to a lawyer that was recommended, she said there is nothing that she can do being that I had a legit positive peth. This has been an absolute nightmare and I won't be screwing up again!! Had to take a leave last week to protect my job..

I’m sorry to hear things have been taking longer than usual. Keep your chin up!

I am going through monitoring myself and while I have been doing good, I always worry. I also don’t want to ask any questions to my compliance monitor in fear she’ll think I’m asking because I am trying to get away with something.

I feel your pain!  Same thing happened to me when I was two months shy of completing my 3 year program. Had to see an addiction counselor at $1,000 and restart the 3 year contract. Was ready to throw the towel in; but have been a nurse for thirty years. Didn’t feel like changing careers at my age. So I did what I had to do. Have less than a year to go; abstained from everything!  You can do this!  Sending you positive vibes?

How often do you test blood and urine in HPRP? About to start a 3 year contract and just wondering the frequency of each. Thanks!

If you're working full-time you're at the highest level testing, which I am. I urine test once a week and blood test every 3 months unless you screw up, which I did so currently blood testing every other week and still urine weekly. It goes down a bit after the first year in the program. Because of my screw up my bill this month was 440.00 plus whatever the facility charges. Damn near a house payment!! Hate this program so much. I signed in June of 2020 a three year. I still have 21 months to go. Knurse1967 sry I just saw your reply and I honestly think I would've thrown the towel in!! Ugh! Thank you and we WILL get through this!!

@Bailey123 What if you get approved to work midnights after the usual 6 month waiting period? How often is blood then? And do you know how often the urine tests are if fully compliant after the first year?

Hey you’re almost done keep going!
