HPRP Evaluation Initial Drug/Alcohol Screen

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hi All,

I am having an evaluation as I got pulled over for an alcohol dui a year ago and was charged, and had no clue about HPRP. So I have had some drinks socially recently and I'm nervous that I will get a PETH test before my evaluation. Or it is just a drug test and EtG urine tests? I'm also concerned after I sign the agreement if I have to that they will give me an EtG hair follicle test and I definitely won't pass that. Last question can you start and be in the program without a current job? Thank you all. I've had so many of you be so helpful already as I'm very scared. Thanks so much

I'm in Michigan for reference

Would you mind telling me if your evaluator accessed your medical records?

I have my intake tomorrow. I do not think that they can access your medical records unless you sign a release.

Good luck! How would they access your records even if you sign a release?

I would assume that you would have to tell them what provider you saw. My issue is I was prescribed a benzo back in 2021 and I am going to have to disclose that even though I do not want to. They will be able to see it on MAPS. So I can't not tell them.

How did it go?

They ask your history with any medication you've taken the last 5 years as well as any mental health, alcohol consumption etc. you have to sign a release so they can view MAPs which is any controlled substance you've gotten in the past 5 years. When is yours?

Wednesday.  Haven't been prescribed any medication in 5 years at all, so should be good to go there.

What other kinds of things did they ask? Did they want to contact any friends/family/coworkers?

Yes they will want to contact 3 references. Sorry for the late reply I just did my evolution last week. How did yours go?

Hi,

Would you mind telling me a little more about how your evaluation went?

Thanks,

Sorry for the delay, I just had my full evaluation this week. How is your process going?

My evaluation went well. They said they didn't recommend any kind of treatment/aa/ outpatient for me. Just have to continue being monitored for another 2 months and then im good fo go. They contacted 2 references and that was it. No medical records/background check/etc.

Who is monitoring you, and what stipulations do you have? That's amazing news.

The "HPRP Evaluation Initial Drug/Alcohol Screen" refers to the initial screening process within a program called HPRP (Healthcare Professional Recovery Program), which aims to support healthcare professionals dealing with drug or alcohol issues. This initial screen is likely conducted to assess the individual's substance use and determine the appropriate course of action for their recovery journey. It's a crucial step in ensuring the well-being of healthcare professionals and the safety of their patients. If you're seeking more information or have questions about this process, feel free to ask.
