IT's going to depend on the school, since each program has different requirements. In addition, students take varying courseloads.

No one on here can give you an exact answer because there are too many factors to account for to determine how long it will take you personally. You need to do some work.

Figure out which school(s) you wish to attend. Take the entrance exams to test into college courses or pre-college courses.

Then sit down with an Academic Counselor to figure out how long it will take. If you are starting from scratch and you do not test into the pre-requisites, then it may take you 2-3 years (or more). If you test into the pre-requisite courses, it may take you 1-2 years (or more). It will all depend on the number of courses you take per Semester or Quarter and the number of courses you need to take before you apply. Good luck.

I agree with the other posters. It is different for each school and each person.

I'm not really doing "pre-req's" exactly, well I am but I guess they aren't really called that. I am in a 4 year university, I'm a freshman, and it is 2 years of classes until you do clinicals and all Nursing classes. We do start nursing classes as early as second semester of freshman year though.

It took me three semesters plus one summer to do all my prereq's, and that was with transfering one or two classes and CLEPing out of one class. I took two classes per semester (one at school and one on-line), and one class during the summer. Good Luck!

It took me 1 1/2 yrs., so that is 2 summers & 3 regular semesters. After that I started the program & had only one general req. class left to take. When I'm done w/ the program I will have been in school 3 1/2 yrs., for a 2 yr. degree.

Some need to be taken in sequence meaning you can't take one until another is completed so it depends what each colleges requirements are.

Best of luck! Oh- it took me 1.5 years to complete but I also got all the coursework out of the way EXCEPT the core Nursing classes and it has made nursing school VERY easy so far!!

It took me 4 years. I figure I could spend 4 years doing it or a lifetime regretting that I didn't.
