How are your summer classes going?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Just wanted to see how everyone's summer classes are. My advanced oncology nursing class is half over & it is soooo much work since it is only 7 weeks long. I already had a 55 question exam (got an A!!!:) Yippee skippee!!), a short paper, gave a presentation this week, have a term paper and a separate group project due in 2.5 weeks, have another test in 2 weeks, and have had to read a gazillion papers on everything possible related to cancer and all the diff. types of cancer as well as multiple chapters in 3-4 diff. texts each week. My head is seriously spinning. But I will be happy once it is over, because I am learning a lot, and also my elective course will be out of the way.

I'm almost ready to conclude that summer semester is going to suck regardless of what class one is taking. Not only do we have the burden of having an entire semester of information crammed into just a few weeks, but we also have to deal with our kids and friends wanting to "play"...and this summer it has been so hot for so much of the time, it is just plain hard to get focused!

But hey, I am midway through and so far have an A gradewise. I can't complain too much, I guess.

Everyone has said that this is the hardest course of the program...even the students a year ahead of us. I am just thankful that I took patho last summer and do not have to deal with both classes- that would really put me over the edge right now.

Congrats to all....keep up the good work!

So how is everyone doing with the semester coming to an end?? We have our last exam in Adv Patho on 8/2. Im going to wind up with a B! Ticks me off, but oh well. How is everyone else doing??????????

Finished Advanced Patho couple of weeks ago...Woopee! ;)

Next thing you know and its time for Pharm!

Final 3 days, of the one assignment remaining, worth 20 points, all I need is 6 of them for a minimum A. whooshh! How come I never got grades like this when I was a full time student? :lol2: Now with a night job in ER, 3 kids, 2 scout troops, band soccer little league allstars two teenage drivers church homeschooling, I get As? :studyowl: :lol2: :lol2:

Just got finished with Advanced Pharm this week! Ended up with an A, but not exactly sure how I pulled that off! I think there were quite a few questions that got thrown out on the test (cumulative test, only one). It was my first experience in an online class and it wasn't exactly the best experience. I felt like all I did was read and it was very self directed. That's how it goes though...hopefully the next two years of classes will go better!!

Now a month off to relax and maybe even exercise a little!!

just finished my final checkoff today for advanced health assessment. It has not been a good semester for many reasons but I think I still ended up with an A.

As if having no air conditioning (can't afford to get it fixed right now), record heat, working my tail off trying to keep bills paid and having the "clinical instructor from hell" (that graded our group more harshly then any other) were not enough....

yesterday my father in law unexpectedly died after being ill all weekend. I went to do the checkoff today with having slept hardly any in 3 days, eyes swollen from crying and still managed to pull it off.

God has got to be looking out for me. And things have got to look up from here.

Im so sorry to hear about your father in law. {{{{{{{{Hugs to you and your family}}}}}}}}}.

Our last exam is tomorrow. Probably going to wind up with a B. But I have been working anywhere from 48-60 hrs a wk, trying to buy a house, study, and keep up with 2 teenage boys.

Mark one more semester down for all of us. We can do this!

Very sorry to hear about your father-in-law. I hope everything will look up for you from now on. That is so tough trying to stay focused on school when you are going through such a tough time with your family right now.

thanks y'all. Everyone has said that this is the toughest course/semester of the program and that if we make it through this we will be fine. In spite of all the roadblocks and obstacles I feel good knowing I made it through. I CAN DO THIS.

I am also finding strength that I never knew that I had.

We are a strong family and will be fine. My FIL was an awesome man and I feel very blessed to have had him in my life. He will be missed greatly but I feel fortunate to have had him in my life at all...and for him to be the grandfather to my 2 girls.

Good luck to all.

It's been a great summer especially after the pure hell I went thru with the spring semester ( ethics and pharm ). I took research 1 (done), research 2 (ends the 18th) and health policy (done) this summer.

I still have to re write my ethics paper, left over from the spring semester. Topic was financial incentives to increase organ donation. The prof TORE IT APART and I have NEVER EVER failed a writing paper before.:angryfire

I was truly traumatized and depressed. I am so dreading the rewriting of it that I cannot stomach to even get started.
