Hello all! I am in the process of getting my BSN and I am wanting to take the GRE as soon as I can so I can focus directly on my other CRNA pre-reqs. I was wanting to know what programs/books you all used?? I saw this turbo prep class online that is like 1300 dollars. It is 5 days long and they garuntee a minimum score of 1300. Has anyone heard of it?? I have been out of the math/extensive grammar scene for many years so I am extremely rusty. So bad that I forgot how to add fractions. I know, it's terrible. I need some help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks so much! :DFuture

I took my GRE exam in 2004 and scored 1310/1600. five days seems like little bit less than what you might need to prepare for GRE. I studied Baron's GRE book and seems like it helped me a lot. English is my second language so it took me three months to prepare for the exam. The hardest part on the GRE exam is gonna be verbal so make sure that you know your word list really well.
Come on guys, help me out here!!! :)

save yourself $1280 and buy a $20 kaplan or pearson GRE prep book. you can still score 1300 with enough study time. its a matter of knowing HOW to take the test, not how smart one is.
i scored 1120 and crammed the last days before taking the exam.
good luck

I discovered the same online course, I was wondering also if it was worth the $$.

I completely agree! There is NO way you are going to go from 0 to 1300 in 5 days...that's an outrageous claim. Now, if you study, study, study and then go to the class, or the reverse, that's a different possbility altogether.
I used the book old GRE tests you can buy (ETS publishes it), the Power Prep Software on the ETS site, and the Kaplan Flip-O-Matic (loved it). I taught myself the stuff I had never been taught (geometry) and PRACTICED taking timed tests. I scored almost 1300.
There's a lot of strategy you can use to take these tests. Any GRE book can give you that strategy. I'd be reticent (GRE word) to pay $1300 for it when I could get it for free at the library.
Good luck! May

I agree--it's not necessary to spend that much money. Buy one or two GRE books. Take a practice test to see where you are. Use the results to figure out where to focus your efforts. Take another full-length practice test when you think you're about ready. Usually, it's the math that people need to review, just because it slips away when you don't use it. Good luck!

i wouldn't pay that much money for a gre course. i would buy a few books and study consistently for 6 months focusing on the vocabulary words. Make sure you take a lot of practice exams and time yourself, bc if you don't pace yourself, you'll run out of time.. like me!

What an interesting class, sounds to good to be true. The reason I think that is that despite what people say about tricks and strategies, you will not trick your way to a 1300. Some people are just intellectually incapable of a 1300. I would not spend the money on that class, it is too short and sounds like a scam.
Now, despite the previous posters I think it is wise to invest in a prep class. Think about it, this one test is held as high as all your experience and/or your GPA. I am not saying it is equal, but it can make up for deficits in the others. I always recommend www.kaptest.com lots of options on-line classes, resources, classroom type classes...their practice CATs (computer adaptive test) are awesome, exactly like the real test in every way.
Good luck

I signed up for the Princeton Review online course. It cost me around $500 and I scored 1300 and 6.0 AWA. I felt like it was money well spent (I was accepted into every school I interviewed at). I have a lot of friends that bought books and studied on their own, but their scores were nothing like mine. I think it's worth the money, but I took my time with the online classes. I studied online for two month before I took the test. I don't think you would have the best results cramming it all in one week. I also don't trust those "guarantees". I'm sure that if you score less than 1300, they'll simply let you retake the classes rather than giving you your money back.

I am copying my post from the thread "Is the GRE as hard as it looks?" you may want to search for "GRE" because a lot of people have helpful hints on threads that have already been started. but here is my
I would suggest Princeton review!
It worked great, I get test anxiety and it walks you through all sections so no parts of the test are a surprise, it was like taking a practice test again.
Helpful hints:
* give yourself at least 4 weeks especially if you are working full time (I think the pros suggest 4-10 weeks)
* study the vocab the way they tell you too, because it can't be crammed in your brain overnight
* dictionary.com is a great reference - sign up for "word of the day", they will email you a word a day and break it down into the latin origins, which helps with other unfamiliar word you may run into on the test.
* need to save a penny!!! - go to the public library, they have many books Princeton, Kaplan, etc. For free!!! And Princeton at least will mail you a practice study disk for going to their site (but you have to check the back cover of the book for exact info)
Good luck!!!
