I realize that I am quoting decades old commercials, but...
I have been so 'down' lately... lots of stress.
I'm a military wife and husband has been traveling (not war related, thank God!), and it's stressful around here handling family (which includes a special needs child) and school. Also my aunt died suddenly about 2 weeks ago and I am far from my mother who could use some company. Many people from our housing area are in the Persian Gulf region and it's tense... Okay, so you get the general idea.
Well, this morning while checking my emails I turned on the TV. All the war stuff was really draining me so I started surfing... and settled on Mystery Science Theater. What a riot! I'm not a usual watcher but that had me laughing so hard my daughter woke up and got out of bed. So Cheezy!
I'm feeling so much better now that I have had some deep breathing from those belly laughs!:roll
I guess it's true what they say... "Laughter is the best medicine!"
Any of you have some good ways for stress relief?
How about any good suggestions for funny movies?

Ah, a woman after my own heart
Comedies are about the only kinds of movies I enjoy. Try:
"Analyze This"
"Shrek"
"Coneheads" (yah,yah, i know it's old--but it's still brilliant)
"Galaxy Quest" (when confronted with a prob, hubs' main line is now, "Dya think we could make a rudimentary lathe?")
For funny/sex:
"Airplane" (another outstandly hilarious movie)
"Office Space"
funny/sex/weird:
"Road Trip"

Mystery Science theater is funny. Those funny guys sitting in the front row making all their comments. I thought I was the only weirdo who would watch that........

Sandy,
Proud Navy wife of 11 yrs. here!!!
I totally shut the T.V. off today. Thought it would be much more therapeutic. Tonight I pulled out my "Christmas Vacation" DVD and watched that ( yes...I know...a bit early for Christmas movies). Some of my other favs are Ferris Buellers Day Off, Meet the Parents, the original Vacation, American Pie, ummm I'm sure there's more...
Other things I do to relieve stress are to get on my treadmill and GO-GO-GO. It's amazing what exercise can do for you. Oh, and I SHUT OFF MY PHONE...why do long lost family members call us when they are freaking out about world events??? Like I am any source of support right now!!
OH and I DEFINITLY agree with G-R-A-D-U-A-T-I-O-N too!!!!
Take care!

I also agree with "graduation". For relief...I send my kids to bed. Not really. If I am totally stressed where I feel that I just can't deal anymore, I call a friend or visit to vent. Figure out some kind of plan to deal with my issues (usually school related...source of huge anxiety in my life), then I take a bath with a cup of herbal tea with the door closed, away from my kids with a book. Then I tackle my issues. I get my true relief just dealing with school stuff, or bills, then I feel like I rest easier. I also like to do Pilates if I am totally stressed.
