Hi Lavender rose,

Welcome back! I just signed on to this website not to long ago and I believe it is the best. You guys really help me out alot. However, since you have been studying for the exam...do you feel that you can't maintain all the information. I know the school can only teach you for so much, therefore you have to do some studying on your own to pass the boards. But now that I'm reading the Saunder book at least 2-3 hrs per day, I feel like some of this stuff I never learned and I'm finding that I can't keep all that material in my head. I realize when I do the Saunder's CD or ATI review, I'm still get only 60% to 70% correct. I don't take my boards until April, but this is scarey. Any advise. Thanks

Thank-you! Are you taking the PN or the LVN? I am glad for this website/forum to help with one another when needed. I am to take the LVN NCLEX. Yes, I do agree with you that not all the information can I maintain in my head. Even some of the stuff learned does find an exit door and we have to go back to review it and then say "oh yeah, I remember". How sad sometimes that can be, huh. When online type in the word NCLEX and it will give you a list of websites. Some of them give you free info advice and of course the rest you have to pay:o . But that is how they stay in business. Just print out the free info and take it with you and apply to your studies. What I keep thinking is the stuff that I do not know that will show up on the NCLEX:uhoh3: . I just hope I will have the knowledge for those to get through them. They say apply your ABC'S, NURSING DIAGNOSIS, MASLOWS, and avoid medicating them right away. Look at the other interventions before that. These are some ways. There are more out there too. But look up NCLEX. Let me know how things go.

Hi Lavender Rose,

I'm sorry to take so long to get back to you, however, I'm taking the RN NCLEX in late April. I'm trying to stay focus on using the Sanders book and Kaplan. Trying to get through all of this information is hard. Over the weekend, I read and did at least 300 questions. I'm just praying that I will be one of the lucky ones in April. I will keep you all posted.

:) Thanks for that! Yes Im doing as many questions I can and learning from them too of what I do not know. A classmate friend says she did 3000 before her test and felt good. My test is in a week to be exact. I am looking forward but yet a little jittery. But I will still take advantage of this whole week. Good luck to you and will hear from you soon. I 'll keep you posted as well.

Hi Chocolate123!

One thing that I found helpful when I was studying for my NCLEX (I just took it March 1) - whenever I do the rationale --> I have a pad with me and always write down some notes especially with new information I am no very familiar with. You will not remember everything just by reading it -- you have to write them down and at the end of the day or before you go to bed - just browse over your notes for the day. As they say, repetition, repetition, repetition! It's the best way to study.

Thanks ladies for the advice and I will keep you posted. By the way, redicedtea what did you use to study for the exam?

Since I graduated 9 years ago (im now 29 y/o), I had to review my content.. and I made the best decision by going for the Hurst review. I did their online thing - I like it because it is concise yet very informative (in a not so overwhelming way). Then I practiced using Kaplan and Saunders. So, I guess what worked for me is the combination of HURST-KAPLAN-SAUNDERS. Hurst for the content review, Kaplan for the test taking strategies and critical thinking, Saunders also critical thinking and just really getting used to answering questions.

Good luck!

Redicedtea, thanks and congratulations!!!!:smiley_aa
