to all kaplan students:
did you take kaplan in a class setting or online? if you took it online, what are the videos like? is there an instructor reviewing how to answer the questions or is the instructor reviewing material (example: cardio, resp.& etc.). i'm debating about taking a class or doing it online. it will be better for me to do it online.

i took the kaplan online class and loved it. there were both content review videos and tons of videos that went over questions and explained the rationales in detail. so ... they give you both and then some.

Thanks Lizz, I will be signing up with Kaplan online this weekend.

Is it Kaplan online with Q bank....which are 3 month course...or another ???
Narine...that is the one I was referring to. Price around $418.
The Q Bank, unfortunately, is separate from the online course and costs more. Some people I know who took the regular class with an instructor got a discount on the Q Bank but, I don't know if that's available with all of the regular classes.
If I had to choose one, I'd go with the online class because there's plenty of questions there also. But, I did like the Q bank better for question practice.
Basically it breaks down like this:
The online course includes the content review book and the content review videos which, are worth watching because they add a lot more info than what's in the book itself. They also make a point of telling you in the videos what content is tested heavily on the exam.
You also get the Question Trainer which is about 1,000 questions, plus the diagnostic and readiness tests which gives you another 300 or more questions. Then they give you a bunch of videos, broken down by content area ... that go over a lot of those questions in detail. There's also other videos that review things like tracheostomy care, how to use canes, crutches, etc.
The Q bank is separate and is about 1,200 questions. Unlike the Question Trainer and the other tests where you've got to answer everything before they give you the rationales ... you can set the Q Bank to give you immediate feedback on whether you got the answer right or wrong and why you got it right or wrong.
The Q Bank is also broken down by content area into 50 question chunks which, at least for me, was more manageable than trying to answer some of the longer tests on the Question Trainer, etc. where some of the tests were as long 250 questions.
So ... I hope this gives you some idea about the differences between the two.

Wow ... if they're giving you all of it for $418 then go for it. That wasn't available when I bought it so go for it ... it's great deal.
Thanks for the advise. I'll let you all know how well I do on the exam.

hello, i haven't written in a while here in the forum. been busy with my house and studying:roll so much for my test to come in 11 more days. can't wait and on the other hand apprehensive about it. i would suggest saunders book for studying and the cd's. do as many questions your eyes and brain can take in that session of studying. cause if you are tired then the brain does not work as it should and nothing is being retained. then you know its time to take a good break or quit and try later when refreshed. i've been reading all the advice tips i can too. :)
