How you pay your MSN tuition?

Published

I'm just asking how you pay the tuition for your MSN? Does the hospital you're working pay that ? If so, how much? How much does a part-time MSN program cost generally? There is no longer loan forgivement program this year.

Thanks!

I'm not eligible for any financial aid as I'm a non-immigrant on a temporary work visa. I'm paying cash for my MSN (working fulltime), with tuition advancement of $3500/yr from my employer. I am hoping to be able to get a TA/GA position along the way, although not sure as I'd have to get a second temporary work visa.

I'm currently in the middle of grad school. I'm estimating it will cost about $50k by the time I graduate next December. I use my $12k a year tuition reimbursement, work FT, and pay the rest out of pocket every month.

My plan is to graduate debt free.

What's the difference between Stanford fereral government loan and NELRP? Thanks!

Stafford gov. loan is a LOAN

NELRP is a LOAN repayment.

Tuition in the state university I attended was around $300+ a credit for a program that had 44 credits total. Total cost of tuition was around $20,000.

How I paid my MSN:

1. My salary as an RN.

2. Hospital tuition reimbursement which was a measly $1,500/year for part-time RN's.

3. Advanced Nursing Education Traineeship which paid my tuition for 8 credits in four semesters out of the six semesters I was enrolled in the program. You have to apply for this through your school. My school had eight slots a year for this grant and applications are accepted before the fall semester begins. No GPA requirement for applicants but awardees are required to attend school full-time. I was the only male and the only one who identifies as Asian-Pacific Islander among the awardees in my school so maybe I had two points in my favor.

Does anyone know if there has ever been students in graduate school to run out of money? I might have to live on campus and use some of the financial aid money for that and things such as room and board. Anyone in the blog ever live on campus during undergraduate or graduate school.

Hi greenland, My credits are paid for by my employer, $5000/yr. Education is so expensive so I am happy for this.

I avoided taking out some loans by working night shift weekend option - 7p-7a Sat. and Sun. With the night shift differential plus the weekend option bonus ($1500 every 3 months) I did quite well.

You don't work from Monday to Friday, right?

VivaRN, Your plan sounds great. You have enough days for clinicals. Presently I am working 4 long days to have 2 days for clinicals. What state is this

My MSN is $159 a cr hr and I get reimbruished part of it by work. I am going part time and paying as I go. No loans. I have applied for scholarships but they won't be effective until next fall.

You don't have to go into huge debt in order to get your MSN - especially if you go part time.

Nope, I was in class/clinical, or getting hw done b/c my weekends were tied up. I did my best not to have am classes on Monday so I could sleep after working Sunday night.
