How old were you when you finished nursing school?

I'm just wondering, it could be for LPN or RN, how old you were when you completed nursing school. Thank you!

I will be about 32, going for ADN. (Lord willing!) Was a bit apprehensive starting so "late" but something my mother in law said really stuck with me: You'll be the same age with a nursing degree, or with out one." Seems simple enough, and it really encouraged me.

i can see that - like i said, i was curious about the route taken by the person who said they got their BSN at 20. a BSN takes more time ....

We had couple of girls in my nursing program who graduated at 21 and one late baby at 20 in the BsN program. She started at 17 and finished a few months shy of her 21st b-day (she bragged a lot...good for her though. I started at 20 and was scared to death!)

But she did do the accelerated program which put her a semester ahead of us by completing it during the summer.

Just thought I would share that. Our program was 4 years straight with a load of theory crap too.

right - but that's what confuses me. the girl you mentioned who started at 17 and did the accelerated program still finished at 21. i guess it might be possible to have a BSN by 20, but definitely not typical. oh well.

Doodle'sMom, my cousin said, "the time will go by regardless. So you can work towards something you want in the meantime, or be unhappy."

I debated for 2 years before I decided to go back for my RN. Its never too late. Best thing I did. Look at your career options over the long term. It is worth the sacrifice. Took me 5 years altogether to do my RN. I had prerequisites first, then 4 years of school. I would do it all over again, too.

LPN grad at 30.....and not done learning yet!!

BSN at 24. If I'd gone full time right out of highschool I would have been 21 but I took my sweet time, started a family and worked. Looking back I'm very happy with the way it all worked out.

LPN @ 24, RN @ 25, BSN. . . will probably be 30.

I will be graduating with a BSN at age 29 after a prior career in retail.

For the person curious about having a BSN at 20, I am imagining she probably was a PSEO (post-secondary education option) student. Many schools allow you the option to go to university and earn college and high school credits at the same time for your Junior and Senior years of high school if you are a good student. So if she planned it right, she would have all her generals and prerequisites laid out and hop right into the nursing program after high school graduation. I don't know for sure of course, but that seems most likely to me.

I'll be done with my ABSN at age 24, I'm working on a second degree. I think I'm the youngest person in our 12 month, so I kinda feel outta place.

Graduated with BSN at 49; will go back for masters as NP in January at 53.

Specializes in Emergency, Critical Care, Pre-Hospital,.

I graduated @ 45. Second career nurse after retiring from the fire department and attending a 2 year diploma program...should have gone the accelerated 2nd BSN route, but now I am a RN-BSN-MSN student again!
