How often do you go to the office?

Published

I'm an LPN and do not case manage, and so I average probably 2 office stops a month. This includes our West office that is close to my home. We have all computer charting, so that helps. Basically my only reasons for going are: 1) turn in my sharps containers, 2) pick up unusual supplies for a pt. (I keep a very good stock of common items), 3) turn in paperwork/pick up forms (mileage, PTO etc), 4)monthly meetings, if I go.

Part of why I like home health. :D

what about you?

Specializes in jack of all trades.

Ours are required if any paperwork it must be turned in on a daily basis. Case Conference meetings are done with everyone weekly up until this summer then we moved to every 2 weeks and probably staying at that from now on. Fortunately my nurses communicate with me frequently about thier patients anyway. Some of mine have a 40min drive one way so I always tell them try to knock out a visit first then come so they can claim thier mileage at least for to/from office.

We have computer based charting as well. Our supplies are ordered online and shipped to home. The only thing I have to go to the office for is to: check my mail box, attend a weekly stupid Care Conference meeting which I could sure do without and pick up the Referral packets for admissions. If they would wise up and either fax/scan/email the referral packets it would save going to the office. On average I go there every other day for about 10 minutes. Wish I never had to go to that cubicle stress filled nightmare at all! I like my home and coffee shops!

Unfortunately we are still paper ALOT of paper. I go to the office at least daily sometimes more but the office is about 15min from home. I am new to HH so I stop and pick up forms and supplies and to go over things. My territory is around the office too.

I used to go to the office frequently when it was a friendly place to hang out at one point in time at one location. Now I stay as far away as possible. Mail my notes in. Will only go to the office if they refuse to send blank forms to the home and we have run out.

2-3 Times a week, to drop of paperwork, and pick-up paperwork and supplies.

I go once early in the morning to take care of care coordination items that aren't time sensitive with the bulk of my day organization being done from the comfort of my personal vehicle where I am not disrupted by chit chat, office politics and gossip, etc. There I can quietly organize my day, check and send my emails, program my GPS, call team members whom I need to speak with, enjoy a cup of Starbucks while listening to the morning news. I make an appearance with list in hand of items I need to grab for visits and restocking and leave at an acceptable time to call my patients to start my day. I am out on the road usually long before my collegues. I have only been cornered by a collegue about it once and I asked her really what the problem was and she couldn't put her finger on it....whatever.....managers know and don't complain about it.
