How often are clinicals?

Published

I Start my first semester this fall, so i was wondering if any of you could give me an idea of how often students attend clinicals.

Specializes in OB/NICU.

We attend clinicals on Monday and Tuesday and have lecture on Thursday.

We will be going twice a week

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

We have 1 day of clinicals, a half day of skills lab, and 1 day of lecture/pharmacology.

Specializes in Cardio-Pulmonary; Med-Surg; Private Duty.

Depends on the program. Our full-time program is two days of lecture and two days of clinical. Part-time program is one day of lecture and one day of clinical.

Our clinicals ran two days a week for 6-8 hours per week for 6-8 weeks (depending on the class - Med-Surg was long, Geriatrics was short). Class was 2-3 days per week on top of clinicals.

Specializes in Oncology/hematology.

2 days per week, 8 hours each day. But, we only have 1 per week for the first couple of weeks. I guess we need to be gently guided into this.

Specializes in Forensic Psych.

I think also there's just not much you can do in the beginning...if you can only do things you've already learned how to do in class, you're pretty limited at first!
