I just found out our nursing books will cost about $800.
Is this normal???
For the whole program(nursing classes only) its estimated at $800. For this first semester I spent about $115.
How many books did you get for that price?
Were the books current editions?
I checked at alibis, amazon, eBay, half.com, dirtcheapbooks4u, a1books, barnes and nobles, walmart, and a few more sites, that I cant remember. All the current editions were much higher.
I could have saved on older editions, but it would not work because I have assignments with page numbers. Let me know what site you used that you were able to spend only $115.

You did great!
I checked eBay for all books and the price was much hire than what you spent for yours. All the books that I purchased are different from your books. They all 6 and 7 th editions, uncluding Medical Surgical, which is a 10th edition. The most expensive was my fundamentals by potter and perry.

Thanks! I started looking as soon as I got my book list, so I was able to catch some really great deals! Keep looking, I have no doubt that you'll get a better deal than at the bookstore.
First semester I spent close to $900. However, we had to buy books that we will use for the whole program so the paper they gave us states this
Med Surg 1/2/3- No additional textbooks needed
Psych - textbook recommended $128
OB- Textbook required $98
Peds- Textbook required $104, Pediatric drug book $64
So really I have already spent the bulk of my $$. *whew*
Hang on to your socks ... they told us at orientation that our books for this year would be approximately $2,400. Some of these will be for the next 3 years but it sounds insane all at once! I don't know how many texts that is as I have to go pick up the book list from the university still.

There is no way I can drop a grand on books right now and I don't want to run up my credit card balances so I have been doing some shopping around. So far I have found that new books on Amazon & Barnes & Noble are pretty dang close in price. Overstock.com and Buy.com are a little lower and have low or free shipping. I have found that the used books on Amazon Marketplace are hit or miss. I haven't had much luck with it.
eBay is a crapshoot.
IF YOU BUY YOUR BOOKS ON eBAY, VERIFY THE ISBN.
I can't stress this enough. You can search by ISBN if you check the "search titles AND descriptions" box. I buy and sell on eBay and I just warn you to be careful. READ THEIR FEEDBACK. Saying that, I have some Fundamentals books that I hope to win this weekend!!
Good luck to you!
