RN SURG/ORTHO FLOOR

2 1/2 YEARS

Indepence, Mo

TC60 (revolving 60 day contracts) same schedule as full time just no benefits (3 12's/week, every 3rd w/e)

$35/hr and all the OT we can work at time and a half +$2/hr for weekends and %5 ($1.80/hr) when we charge.

about 1/2 the RN's on my floor do the TC 60, It has almost elemnated need for agency nurses on my floor. But now they're trying to sell the hosp and eleminate TC60. If that happens they're gonna have a massive walkout.

1. RN 2. 16 years, plus 6 as an LPN, 2 as EMT 3. Neurosurgery clinic and ED 4.$25.00 base pay. iwork weekends in ED, with diffs it's about $40.00 an hour. I get good benefits, and good retirement.

I am a single mom with two teenage kids. I was able to buy a decent house in a safe neighborhood, I drive a real old car and will help my daughter with college next fall. I don't work overtime, right now I am working 32 hours a week (by choice). I have a hobby that brings in a little money, too. We don't have a lot of extras but we're not poor, either.

hi : Iwould like to to say I'm very sorry 'cause I think I could be misunderstood. I didn't mean to say that non married nurses aren't as good as married ones. The case is that in my country with one job we don't make much. or we have another job or share expenses with someone, husband, a friend or stay with parents or other relatives. My curosity was in order to understand your posts. please excuse me i dind'n mean to hurt anybody.

BTW, as appalling as nursing salaries are in some areas, hands down they still beat those for librarians (basic education is a master's degree.) There's a well known, wealthy place here that pays 28K to librarians and requires a 2nd master's degree and reading facility in 2 European languages in addition to English. And people wonder why I work as a nurse. Duh!
