Good Luck!

The pay varies depending on location and facility from $14-20/hr. I just landed a job at a hospital in the New Orleans area for 14.30/hr with 2/hr shift differentials at night and 3/hr on weekends and I'm a new grad.

Oh okay. How'd you like the schooling? What school did you attend?

I have a friend who lives around Baton Rouge and works in a clinic making $16 an hour. She has been a nurse for almost a decade though.

I went to RPCC-tec in Sorrento near BR.

Schooling was intense! You don't have time to do anything but study and do clinical paperwork. But now that it's over it was all worth it! I'm taking NCLEX today praying I pass!

Good luck you'll do great!!

Can I ask some advice? I'm graduating in may from southeastern with a Bach in CSD. The gre was horrible for me so grad school isn't looking good. I just went to school for four years for a degree I may not use. I'm just ready to do something that will get me right to a job. Do you think getting an lpn is good for me? I'll eventually bridge to RN but right now I have people telling me I'd be stupid to go to school for that. But I don't feel stupid. Idk just thought I'd ask your opinion since you said you finished the program. Thanks for listening lol. :)

If you have a 4 year degree from SLU, what about doing their accelerated RN program. I just finished and it was 18 months. It was intense, I don't know how to compare it to an LPN program though.

That's exactly what I was going to mention to you was SLU's accelerated program. Compared to the traditional program it will probably be a lot easier to get into. I'm attending SLU next semester to finish up pre-reqs to get into the BSN program and they said ill only need a 3.0 GPA and 1 yr work experience as an LPN. my advice would be to go straight for your BSN or ADN if you are unable to get into the accelerated.

Oh okay, i currently have a 3.1. Not very high. Got that handful of Cs freshman year. :/ my last 60 hours is a 3.7 but I doubt they'll just look at that. Do you know who I need to contact to talk about my chances of acceptance?

You should be fine. My understanding is that's what they look at, the last 60 hours.
