How many times can you take the NCLEX RN?

I am from Michigan and wondered if anyone out there knows how many tries you get for the NCLEX RN? I had failed it once and scared to take it again. I saw that one person on this site had taken it 5 times.

I also reside here in florida, wellington/royal palm what about you? and its sad to say they only give you 3 chances after that a remedial course must be completed which costs $1300 the other states donot require a remedial as long as you pay each time you apply.sit for the exam.. can you believe that!!!!!!

The majority of other states require a remedial program that needs to be paid for before they will grant permission to test. There are only a handful that do not have any limitations on the number of times that one tests.

If you go to another state for licensure, the application will ask how many times that you have taken the exam, and you have to list all of the attempts on the form. It would then be up to the state to determine if they will permit you to test for them.

You do need to be aware that if you go thru another state, you still will not be able to go back to the original state and get licensed there if you do not meet their requirements first. They still have all of the original records on file.

You need to contact you state board and talking with person in charge of lincening, they will work with you.

Hi,

Here in Florida you have 3 chances to take the NCLEX. If you are still unsuccessful on the third attempt, a refresher course is mandatory before you can re-test. I believe the course can cost anywhere from $800-$1000, depends on the area in which you live. I wish you all the best, good luck!:p:redbeathe

Contact the Board in NC to find out how many attempts they allow. You may also be able to find this information on their website. Each state has their own rules about number of retakes.

For what I know,u are allowed to take the nclex 3x and if you didnt make it the 3rd time they'll send you a letter stating that you need to take a lecture or a review with a certain no.of hours that you have to complete before taking the nclex again.I'm from New Jersey and i'M not sure if that goes the same with the other states.

Don't worry a lot pass in their 3rd time.You can make it...Goodluck:o
