Just wondering how many schools the majority of people applied to. Some people I know applied to 10+, others only 2-3.

Not sure why I can't vote from mobile site, but applied to 3 and got in to all of them. Starting at Minnesota next fall!

I applied to three schools, interviewed at two, accepted to two, and cancelled my third interview since I had already made my choice!

Most people apply between 2-5. I've never heard of someone applying to 10 schools but if 10 schools interest you, go for it. I intended to apply to about 4 but applied to my first choice first and was lucky enough to get in.

My question is when you apply to all these schools do you have your references send out numerous letters of recommendations??
I want to apply to a few schools but I don't want to keep asking my references for a letter for each school I apply to.
Thoughts?
It depends on whether or not the school you are applying to uses NursingCAS for applications. NursingCAS is nice in that its a centralized application where you send your transcripts and what not to one place and they send it out to each school you apply to. Letters of recommendations are completed / submitted online directly to NursingCAS from the writer. There are many schools that have supplemental applications and many that don't use NursingCAS yet, so that can be a pain. NursingCAS is similar to AMCAS for medical school and CASPA for PA programs. More and more nursing programs are using NursingCAS but not all yet. Good luck
Ok thanks. Hopefully the schools I will be applying to uses that system. Thanks for the info!!

I applied to three, but what I thought was my first choice pre-interviews ended up being my last choice (which is fine because I didn't get accepted anyway), and what was my last choice pre-interview ended up being my first choice post-interviews. Interviews are an important time to really dig into the programs, ask a lot of questions, and see how organized the school is. Make them sell themselves to you as much as you are selling yourself to them. I had one interview where I sat in a room alone for 45 minutes in the middle of being interviewed by 2 individuals that asked me the exact same questions. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed. Don't settle for a school that you don't get a good feeling from, remember you have to commit the next 27-30+ months of your life to them and there's a chance the bad feeling could be a common theme.

I only applied to one and was accepted to it, but I know that some people apply to 1-3. I've never heard of anyone applying to 10....that's a lot of $$ in application fees

I applied to two programs as those were the only two that were effectively available to me. It would have been 3 except for one problem - CSU Sacramento was entirely closed to 2nd Bachelors students. Now the BSN program is open to 2nd Bachelors students.
