Okay, I understand that NCLEX uses adaptive testing and thus everyone is supposed to get 50% right. Those who are above a certain competency level pass and those who are under don't. The thing is you can theoretically be well above 50% by the minimum of 75 questions. Basically I am trying to see if anyone knows roughly how many of the first 75 questions someone would have to answer correctly to pass at 75. I know this will fluctuate slightly, but I'm curious. Right now I am getting between 50% and 75% correct on every Kaplan test. Assuming these question are similar to NCLEX questions I am wondering if my competency is enough to pass, or if I should delay taking my nclex until I can score much higher on my practice exams.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this.
I also have been scoring about the same. 50-70 %. I am scheduled to take NCLEX on the 20th. Good luck to all of us.
Hi out there:
Was wondering about how many Kaplan CD test all of you were taking? I got the book Kaplan NCLEX-RN Exam and have done the 180 questions a couple of times. The first time I got 85 out of 180 then second time after doing some other studying I got 76%. However, I am not a recent graduate. I have been studying for my NCLEX because I have been out of nursing for over 8 years.
I also took the Saunders test of 75. Got 44 out of 75. That one was hard. It made me think I had better go back to school.
So if if you are getting 50-75%, how many Kaplan CDs are you doing? I just did the one so I'm wondering if doing just this one is any indicator. I'm going to get the Mosby's online test that assesses how you will do on the NCLEX. Have any one of you done this? Maybe I'm in for a big surprise.
Appreciate any feedback.
I think I'll stop worrying and studying for now and just go watch "The Chipmunks meets Frankenstein."
Thanks

Hi: Saw your post that you used Saunders. I have been using Kapan and Mosby's with 60 to 76% but only got 44 out of 75 with Saunders. Thought it was pretty hard. I am hoping the questions on Saunders are not representative of the NCLEX. I rather like the way Kaplan and Mosby show's them.
Appreciate your feedback.

Hi, I took NCLEX today, it shut off after 75 questions, feel as if I failed I had a ton of calculation questions in the new format style. It made me nervous b/c they were easy, I had prioritization, delegation questions also. I was done in a hour which makes me nervous too. I am in PA and am going to go nuts until I get the results. I just don't have a good feeling about it.
I studied Saunders, Lippincott, and Kaplan. I thought the questions were most like Kaplan. Good luck to all of you studying!

VAT,
I was going to say that I thought the first break is offered at 2 1/2 hrs, but I'm not for sure on that. I know exactly what you mean about the wait, I just had to go through it last week. It was absolutely horrible, I was so anxious and I only slept like 2 hours at night. For the 2 days of waiting I just felt like crying the whole time because I thought I had failed for sure. I was so happy to finally get my results that I did start crying out of sheer relief and happiness. Stay hopeful and positive and do something to try to take your mind off it for a while. Amy
