Okay, I understand that NCLEX uses adaptive testing and thus everyone is supposed to get 50% right. Those who are above a certain competency level pass and those who are under don't. The thing is you can theoretically be well above 50% by the minimum of 75 questions. Basically I am trying to see if anyone knows roughly how many of the first 75 questions someone would have to answer correctly to pass at 75. I know this will fluctuate slightly, but I'm curious. Right now I am getting between 50% and 75% correct on every Kaplan test. Assuming these question are similar to NCLEX questions I am wondering if my competency is enough to pass, or if I should delay taking my nclex until I can score much higher on my practice exams.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this.
That is so sweet Cappucino Mama, I really appreciate it. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, you sound like a very caring and compassionate person.
Dspence, want to thank you also, this website is awesome, I really don't think my non medical friends understand what I have just been thru, its great talking with people who "get it"
Love and kisses to all!!
(Gee I don't remeber being in this good of a mood since I was like 10)
Well, I am just feeling miserable. Mine shut off at 75 and it just didn't feel good at all. I had calculations(which I thought were too easy also) and a couple of the check all that apply questions. It just seemed like I did horribly because I would get a question that I felt I had to guess at and then it would give me super easy question.I also feel like I got the last few questions right, but who knows if that means anything, they may have just been below the competency level. I wish I would have gotten 78 instead of 75, I would feel a little better right now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for us and trying to be hopeful and positive. Today is going to be a long day......
I took my nclex Tues. my computer shut off @ ques. 75 before the comp shut off it asked if I would like to take a break, I said No b/c I just wanted to continue that was at question 74. It asked ques. 75 and then it shut off...I am going crazy trying to figure out if I passed???? Anyone out there have any ideas? Thanks a bunch.

VAT,
I think it offers breaks at certain times during the exam. I'm not sure of this , but maybe you hit that time and it had to offer it to you. Do you remember how long into the exam you were when it offered you the break? I passed mine at 75 questions and I really felt like I failed, so stay positive. I hope you get some good news soon. Amy

approx. 2 hours of testing time? the waiting is dreadful and I don't want to build up my hopes.... so many test takers had their comp shut off @75 and they found out that they passed.... you know what I mean re: the waiting.

VAT,
I was going to say that I thought the first break is offered at 2 1/2 hrs, but I'm not for sure on that. I know exactly what you mean about the wait, I just had to go through it last week. It was absolutely horrible, I was so anxious and I only slept like 2 hours at night. For the 2 days of waiting I just felt like crying the whole time because I thought I had failed for sure. I was so happy to finally get my results that I did start crying out of sheer relief and happiness. Stay hopeful and positive and do something to try to take your mind off it for a while. Amy
