Just wondering how our group was made up...how many were PP nurses, how many were LD nurses, etc.?

I'm a mother/baby nurse and I'd love to talk to others both in PP and LD.

What is CHD and BCF?

Specializes in L&D/Antepartum, Neuro.
Mother-baby/nursery/high-risk stable antepartum here.

L&D is separate from us. I don't want that job AT ALL.

Too much stress!!

Coming from a Neuro ICU, L&D was like a vacation to me! :lol2:

I'm strictly L&D but our unit is made up of laboring patients, unstable high risk antepartums and pp overflow (which happens more and more often due to increasing c/s rates). My least favorite is PP.

More power to ya, hon. I can't do it!

I'll take my postpartum mamas any day! :D

seriously??

Ok of course I exaggerate a bit but seriously the level of stress was tremendously less when I made the switch. There are plenty of crazy nights on L&D but for the most part I work with some great nurses and we do our best to help each other out. Now if I work the day shift that would be another story, it pure madness during the day.

Specializes in NICU, High-Risk L&D, IBCLC.

I'm in L&D and antepartum. I've been cross-trained to float to mother/baby and I'm now being trained to float to NICU (growers and feeders only). L&D is my main area, but I don't mind going to the other areas at all because it's gives me a break from all the craziness that is L&D. I'm hoping to take a job eventually where the setup is LDRP - I think that would cut down on the burnout factor quite a bit. I love L&D, but it's SOOOO stressful.

Im a pp nurse. i like it so far. i come from a medical cardiology background .
