Hi everyone:
Who hasn't received their letter yet on the decision for the nursing program? I know a group of you have but I'm wondering who hasn't yet.

Nice Job Linux..:) Those are some hard classes...The problem I see and I think Macomb needs to change is someone can take all fluff classes and get a 4.0 and get in while someone takes all the hard classes and doesn't...I just don't think it's fair...just my two cents...
Yes, That is what i feel too. You see, people take some blowoff class and get into the program and they are not capable of nursing school and end up droping. on the other end a person that took hard classes and did not get in and may not get in at other schools and end up in some other program. We save we have shortage of nurses this is the main reason why we have shortage.
On top of this, I just read an ad on this site saying "Nurses form India" Now they are going to flood the market. I hate what they did to IT. Anyhow I hate to say this but this is what is going to happen. I become a RN and there will not be any demand as the Indian Nurses would have flood the market.
I believe it. I'm thinking about switching schools right now. I think the system is really messed up and nothing can be done to fix it till these changes are made. I'm not in the mood to waste money on underwater basketweaving just to get into the program. I just had a baby and I have enough bills to pay.
While I do agree that people should not be allowed to take blow off classes in order to boost their GPA for entry into the program, I do not think doing away with that would lessen the competiveness of the program. Most people I know who applied (about 12 in all) have already completed all their pre req's. I have completed all of them for Macomb's program and the 4.0 I earned for my last 12 credit hours was for the fall 06 semester in which I took A&P, Sociology, and World History.
But what kind of nurses does that produce. It's like a pre-med just going pre-med not because he really wants to be a doctor just because he's in it for the money.
The school wanting to generate $ via application fees really has no bearing on the type of nurses they produce in my opinion. Macomb has an excellent reputation for producing very prepared new nurses.
Well... Macomb got my HESI fee... but they WONT be requiring $100 from me... unless 61 people "take a hike" or some other miracle happens. Got my letter yesterday ...... out of 828 ranked applicants, 125 were accepted, and I am number 186.. . oh yipee...an alternate they say.. 61 people... thats not going to happen.... Time to check into other schools... and take my education and money elsewhere.

That dose not seem right. I had a 4.0 (hard class: AP, Micro, Nutrition and intro to pyc) and had a 91.33% on HESI and got in. I think something is wrong. You may not have your paper in right. But I think you said 93.5 over all score, that means you had 50 on you GPA of 4.0 and 87% on your HESI. My over all is like 95.67. I hope that helps. I am sorry of all those that did not get in. I can feel that. I was also feeling that I am not get in. As the almost every one on this site scored higher then me. I thought i was dumb and may not get in. But with the grace of god we all will be fine in the long run.
