Hi, I'm just curious as to how many programs everyone is applying to. I'm only applying to two BSN nursing programs. I feel like I should apply to at least two more programs, but I will have to apply to out of state programs for that. I hate how some programs in my state I would have to take an extra semester or two worth of classes or they only take very few students. Its really limiting my options.
I will be applying to one school for Fall 2011. It is an ADN program and I will have all but the nursing courses completed by the time I would start. However, if I don't get accepted to that program, I am only short a few pre-reqs for other schools and would likely be able to apply to several different schools for a Fall 2012 start date. I could theoretically apply to a few post-bac programs since I have another degree, but I have decided that an ADN program will better fit my needs, both financially and time-wise. I originally planned to wait until 2012 to apply to schools so I could apply to more than one, but figured that since I had met all the requirements for one in time for next year, I might as well give it a shot! If I get in, I get to start a year earlier. If I don't get in, I will spread my eggs into more than one basket for the next round of applications.
I guess I am the exception to the norm, I'm planning on applying to 12 programs or so to start Fall 2011. I just finished my first degree with a mediocre GPA in May (around 3.1) but really only want to go through the app season once if I can help it. The way I see it, I only need 1 acceptance...good luck to everyone!
I only applied to one nursing program because in my area, its the only one within a 60 mile radius. And the other two colleges within a 100 mile radius are in a consortium with mine so you can only apply to one anyway.
When I interviewed for the program, I was told I was top candidate so I knew I was getting in. If I hadn't been so sure, I might have applied to the University where I earned my BSEd.

I considered applying to 3 (the closest ones to where I live). I ended up only applying to two, with the application done for the third one, when I was accepted for my first choice. =)
