Starting school next month & sooo nervous about the workload. How many hrs a night do you spend doing school work & how do you prioritize your life?

:lol2: ahhh perfection

I will start the lpn in sept. right now (cna) i study 3 to 6 hours a day, it will be the same or more come sept. Its alooot of info in a short time to learn.

In regards to how much study it takes to get through LPN school, I think it depends on how much experience you have prior to entering Nursing School. I believe I would have been less stressed about studies if I had worked as a CNA for at least 6 months before entering into the LPN Program. Most of my fellow students have had prior experience in one form or another working in a hospital or nursing home setting. They all seem to have much more confidence in what they are doing. I, on the other hand, am one of the people that study but, I still am missing something in general concept.

I have always been a honors student. I usually get things on the first pass but, nursing classes want more than mere memorization. Nursing school wants you to use "critical thinking" and "problem solving". You can be great at memorizing but, you may have three different subjects in a day and they may each cover at least two chapters, then take that times a week and add in other things you should be doing, papers, drug cards, computer assignments, study guide and end of chapter questions....etc...it can be challenging!

10 hours a night???? I dont have that many hours in a day! I am in school (self-paced) 20-25 hours a week, with 2-3 clinical days included. I spend on the average, 3 hours a night studying, so it becomes 25 hrs in school, 20 hours studying, working 36 hours a week, and I have a family. I obviously have no life, but I have an A ave overall, and am not insane yet.

I have clinical homework, drug cards, modules, ATI, reading, careplans...it goes on and on.

I love the program, am constantly amazed at what we are learning, and plan to be done by August. It is doable, but not without a lot of changes in your normal schedule. I am learning a clean house is a dream, laundry in stacks is ok, and my crock pot is my new best friend.

Anyone out there agree?
