I was wondering after the working while in school thread, for the pre-nursing students, how many credit hours do you take in a semester?
This semster I was in 16 (5 classes) and this summer I'll knock out 10 and next fall I think I'm taking 16 again. I just wonder what the norm is...

Taking the summer off this year... WOO HOO!
This Fall: Start nursing school :) I know you said pre-nursing, but school doesn't stop once you hit NS so, it'll be 12 hrs of nursing courses (not sure how many actual classes that amounts to) and then I'm also working on a minor in chem so 1 more class (3-5 more semester hours...depending on the class I end up registering for) on top of that = 15-17

I wish I can take five classes and be done with school but I work so for me taking 5 classes plus working would be like suicide, so I usually take 2 classes I learned one thing so far, sometimes its better to take one or two classes and score A than taking several classes and get C's, but than again you have to take under consideration what kind of classes are those, how many credit hours, usually the ones with less credit are more easy...

You can easily get overloaded...not by the hours, but what the class requires. I would speak with other students regarding the difficulty of the subject matter, how often homework/papers/testing occurs, etc.
What I have learned the hard way, is the 100 vs 200 classes really don't mean much, when a professor is giving daily quizes and has assignments due weekly...it can take over your life and give you very little time to work on anything else.

Worst I've had it was 15 (fall 2006).
A&P1 for 3
A&P1 Lab for 1
Chem for 3
Chem Lab for 1
Statistics for 3
Ethics for 3
Two sciences with labs plus the math was kind of a full load. This last semester I took
Micro for 3
Micro Lab for 2
A&P2 for 3
A&P2 Lab for 1
Human Growth and Development for 3
I kind of wish I had taken one more class this spring, but after last fall I was worried about the load. This summer I am taking 12 credits hours of liberal arts. No science, no math...should be a nice break.

This semester, only 9 units (Stats, Pharmacology, Physiology). Summer will be Human Growth & Dev, Nutrition, and Ethics (9 units), 6 weeks each, concurrently. I work full time, so only evening courses will do.
