How many classmates have you lost?

Published

We are almost done with our first quarter, (A &P and Fundamentals/Skills); at least 12 of my classmates (out of 45 at the start) are about to drop out due to failing grades. How many did you lose after the first term?

We started with 110 but now we're down to 70. 23 students failed this past semester, including some people that I was pretty close to. It's crazy! I feel so bad for those who didn't make it. But on the other hand, it makes me all the more grateful to still be in the program!

We started with 50 and are down to 30, with 10 being repeaters and transfer students that we've picked up along the way.

So only 20 students of our original 50 are still with us. :(

we've lost 2 so far (that I know of)....and it's only our SECOND WEEK!:uhoh3:

We are done with first semester ADN and we lost two from a class of 60, so is not that bad for what I red in other posts. But my school takes almost only straight A's students and so far I think not everyone can take the pressure and load of work even with straight A's. Good luck to everyone and don't give up!!!!

Last year my LPN class lost 12 out of 30 students . So far we haven't lost anyone for the RN year but it's only first semester and still early. During post-conference today our CI said that next week mid-semester notices are going out for those not maintaining the passing mark.

I wasn't surprised when she said that there are plenty of people not passing. My class is made up of all LPNs and sorry to say but a lot of the old timer's have a chip on their shoulder. My classmates are a (surprisingly) very rowdy bunch. They love to argue with the professors, act as if they have nothing to learn, and interrupt lecture with irrelevant stories.

We started with 108 and now have 41.I have lost a couple of good friends.:crying2:

In my section, during the first year of 45, we lost 20+ students. Some are reapplying, some found nursing isn't for them. The best thing you can do is concentrate on you and getting yourself thru each semester. There will be students who don't make it and not just because they couldn't academically cut it. Just keep your nose to the grindstone, keep a strict study schedule, seek out help thru your teachers and if groups are your thing, study with those that are as determined as you are with no more than 3 or 4 ppl. :twocents:
